There is a concept that fans should support their team..... ...seems to be in short supply sometimes on this board. We won FFS - 1-0 scrappy or not - I'll take it everytime
If Goetze scores against us i will not be happy. Spent weeks saying what a quality player he is, and when he proves that midweek, it shows that occasionally, spending a lot on one player might be a good move.
It's gormless simpletons like you that has ensured our club is on a downward spiral..... It's so exasperating, quotes like we should be happy, we got 3points at home v Swansea! What a monkey! I was at the game, any fan with an ounce of sense will have deduced we are in for a long season..... What really annoys me is, it could/should have been different.... Everyone is coooing about Manure, they look good because we have gone backwards 10yrs! We will be lucky to finish in the top 6 this season, if Swansea had shown a bit of belief yesterday, they might have left with something.
This is a discussion board dude, no one is complaining we won, you need to look beyond the win, look at the quality of the opposition and the manner of the victory.... We support the team 100%.....but it was apparent the team has lost its mojo.....
But non-stop moaning can get on people's nerves. And there are a few on here that do this on every bloody thread.
I hear you fella But I do think that we need to start supporting these players, rather than finding fault with them at any given opportunity. Considering the turmoil we've just been through, I think the players did really well yesterday. I'd just like to see a bit of credit where it's due. It's easy to complain, but it takes a bit more insight and humility to recognise where we've done well
Actually if you care to look at the thread title and OP, there was little criticism of any of the players but the tactics and manager's motivational abilities were being questioned.
We all know there are people on here who moan on every thread, but we also need to encourage constructive discourse....... I just wonder whether yesterday's flat performance was as a result of the 8-2 drubbing, or the team being away for almost 2 weeks on international break....
Nothing wrong with constructive discourse I've seen very little of it though. I think yesterday's 'failure to dazzle, despite getting a very valuable three points' was down to nerves, ensuring that we won Which we did This team deserves credit for it too
You specifically said support the players which i believe generally we do, the manager (and the Board) is another matter, the reluctance to buy real quality is hurting the team and is false economy.
Mata Cahill Sneijder to mention a few, instead of which we waste approx £30 Mill on Campbell (without work permit), Park and Oxo Cube ( to warm the bench)
We would have likely been outbid by Chelsea for Mata, or guzumped on wages. Cahill, I agree, we should have put in a better offer. Sniejder? Are you having a laugh?
Sneijder wasn't even for sale. And this is another point, it's all very well saying we should have bought this player and that player. But out of the names that we're mentioned this summer. Benzema, Higuan, Sneijder, Kaka, etc..... ...none of them were for sale anyway. Pie in the sky arguments are just that.
We have have been through this loop already, in a nutshell, the club knew last season they were going to lose Fab, Nas and Clichy, they also knew what was lacking in the team from the same season.... We will never get answers to why the club decided on a mad trolley dash on transfer day deadline!
You asked who was available all 3 were available at a price, so were many more, so availability was not the problem, the will to replace Cesc and Samir was not present but the 8-2 prompted a knee jerk re-action, otherwise we wouldn't have bought Mertesacker, Santos and Arteta. Wenger stated on many ocassions that he felt we had enough quality within the existing squad.LOL
