For 2013/14 Chelsea's wage is higher. For 14/15 Arsenal's is expected to be higher. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...eas-for-first-time-in-more-than-a-decade.html
That article is based on assumptions, in particular, that Arsenals wage bill would not be effected by any out going players this season. It adds in the expected wages of Sanchez, Welbeck etc but doesn't remove the wages of podolski, Campbell, jenkinson etc... The other big assumption is that Chelsea's wage bill would remain static. The article uses 2013/14 figures for all the clubs except Chelsea who's 2012/13 figures are used for comparison. However Chelsea's actual accounts for 2013/14 as referenced by the guardian and independent have Chelsea's wage bill rising by an additional £20m to around £190m+, way above the predicted Arsenal figures (even before taking out departing player wages) for 2014/15. Basically that's just a poor piece of journalism
It's idle speculation I agree. Chelsea have a bigger revenue than Arsenal to spend on wages Arsenal are not a well run club, they have fallen behing massively commercially despite claims they were best run club in UK in the 00s
Progress achieved. Arsenal set to finish 3rd instead of 4th barring some final day miracle. Arsenal fans - be grateful for small mercies; no CL qualification.
Tbh if we win the FA Cup we will have ended up with: 3rd (Auto CL Qualification) - 1 position higher than last season FA Cup Winners - retained from last season Community Shield Winners Pretty much only Chelsea would have had a better season. It obviously would have been nice to continue to push on for second rather than let the league season fade to a close but looking at the overall season it could still be considered a good one
Think you may get fewer points though than last season. City and Liverpool have gone backwards. Sanchez is a good signing: that is an improvement... I just don't know how you have ended up with fewer points. Was it 13/14 or 14.15 that you started badly? This is Arsenal 87's take on it: http://www.not606.com/threads/arsen...tall-from-last-5-seasons.301395/#post-7951838
If the stories are true that Chelsea are going to offer Sterling £200k per week, that will push their wage bill up a fair bit. I will lose my cock in laughter.
I don't think United have progressed at all this season. Do you think your club has progressed? Leicester fans don't need to provide an answer.
I think the only 2 clubs that have progressed are Leicester and Spurs. Everyone else has either stood still or gone backwards.
We haven't really progressed as such, solid enough though. After improving our league position year-on-year since being saved in '09. It was a minor miracle we did still last year after our departures. We've been strange this season, we've had periods where we look like top 4 contenders and others where we look like relegation candidates! A top half finish would be good I reckon though I hope for more.
