Arsenal vs Wigan Athletic: Match Thread

Congrats to Wigan. They have been superb over the past few weeks. No excuses tonight, we were awful and deservedly beaten.

Let the doom mongers descend saying we are bottlers we won't bet CL etc...

 

Well, certainly not because of the positive 'never say die attitude of the fans'.

 

Deserved.

Totally bottled it and each and every player should be ashamed of themselves.

The discussion by Petit was well timed - this team can be great one week, think too much of themselves and switch off the next. No character at all.

I dont think we had a single shot on target in the second half, and each and every player stumbled over the ball, tried to do too much, were indecisive and ultimately toothless.

 

The idiots leaving the pitch early certainly won't encourage him

 

What are you talking about ? He got weights'd off the ball fairly, not even a foul.

 

All could of been so different... those first 2 goals killed us, Wigan played smart after that. Wait for us to bring numbers forward, withstand the attack by getting everyone behind the ball, so we have no space, then use their speed to counter.

Also, Walcott was very dire, Santos was better than him at attacking, and he's a LB!

 

Not good enough. Wigan deserved their win.

Got to be much better than that against Chelsea. It's now a massive game.

 

Two tough games coming up... Chelsea and Stoke away... I'm not confident on this showing, tbh...

 

You wouldnt blame him. When he sees players like Ramsey in midfield you just know he has to think about it.

Our season may have died tonight with Arteta's injury. Relying on Ramsey to control the midfield means no more wins this season

 

We got beaten fair and square. Wigan played really well and didn't allow us to play. Bigup respect to Wigan!

 

Rosicky did open them up many times. But giving them a 2-0 lead made it hard. Rosicky did very very well and was amazing tonight.

 

So about the Gibbs Doubters do you still think Santos is better

 

Wigan scored more than us - they were for sure not better!

Van Persie - bad sportmanship but at least he is pissed off ....and he should be!

Aaaahhh - but we did bottle it today! Could have secured the 3rd spot!

According to some they are proper fans cos they go to games

 

I can see no more than a point from those two games - pressure only builds from here and we're proven bottlers. Given our North London rivals are also confirmed bottlers, it is looking more and more like Newcastle and Chelsea.

 

He needs to start games. Players don't become world beaters by only being given sub appearances.

 

The times we were in space they just fouled us and the ref let them get away with it.

At least we aint a joke club like spurs
