They've been lacking any real steal for years. They needed to sign someone solid in midfield. When the Vidal rumours were around I thought he'd be perfect for them. I'd say that is there priority, even though they could clearly do with another striker. Possibly the most important position on the pitch and they're very lightweight there.
This is what will happen. We'll have a mixed opening start to the season, then we'll go on a mini-run. Optimism will rise and we'll be talking about maybe challenging for the title. Then it's December and we'll have indifferent form again. We'll qualify for the Last 16 of the CL, though. This will continue in January with a few poor results, and we'll lose the opening last 16 match against probably Bayern/Barca/Madrid. Then we'll go on title winning form, win loads of games and finish 4th, maybe 3rd if we're lucky. We'll talk about how we can challenge for the title next season and our Summer will be full of hopeless jubilance. And repeat...
TH was right this team needs a proper spine to be considered as title challengers,it doesn't have one.
None of the goals they scored today had **** all to do with a lack of steel in midfield, they scored from a set piece because of **** defending from the defenders coupled with bad GK, and the second goal again was down to bad goalkeeping. Some people need to start coming up with better observations other than the same old cliched nonsense. Our whole play today was bad because we were slow, lacked sharpness, lacked will and fight, and attacking play was completely absent.
I said it before and I'll say it again. We will regret not making any effort for Kondogbia. He would have been perfect.
I know he did not get great service, but my god, Giroud was **** beyond belief. The fact we had to even use Alexis showed how desperate we were, the guy only returned from his holiday on Tuesday.
What difference would he have done to that bad defending from the set play, in which the CB's and GK were at fault?
We really do need some fighters in the team who can take a game by the scruff of the neck and turn it arouind.
Also have to say that Reece Oxford was mighty impressive, he is only 16 ****ing years old and he played like that.
I'm talking about the general match where Coquelin was getting rinsed at times and kept misplacing simple passes. I agree about the CBs and GK at fault. Ox was also at fault for the second goal, too. And he was one of our better players!
You don't have any fight in your team, especially in the middle you didn't score either, mainly because you couldn't provide decent chances due to being out-muscled in midfield by a 16yr old. If that doesn't really show you where your problems are, I don;t know what will. TBH I would've been happy with a draw even after we were 1-0 up, but I'll take 2-0 everyday.
Maybe, thing is, you can always count on Spurs being more **** than us, they like to outdo us in everything, and another 2 will inevitably be worse. our experience should see us survive.
We didn't score because we lacked sharpness, we beat your side 9 times in a row, so please don't annoy me with this 'lack of midfield' nonsense. We lost because our attacking play was complete ****, coupled with sloppy defending. 9 times out of 10 we will beat you, and that's an actual literal fact.
The Spammers played well and Cech made 2 howlers. First game and all that, but the media will make a meal of it and the airwaves will be full of fuming Gooners calling for Wengers head tomorrow. ****ing lol
