Didn’t realise we’d only beaten you once in the last seven meetings. Nuno’s record against us is also annoyingly good, so this will be tricky. Personally think it’ll be a draw/you lot will edge it. I hope I’m wrong, as we need to win desperately!
This game will be a good barometer of where we're at currently. The first three games were a shambles, especially Brentford. Didn't really expect to get any points against Chavs or City, but the way we folded against City in particular was abominable. Anyway, since then, played 3 won 3 and what is a new team, is beginning to find it's feet. We still need our big players to step up. Pepe and Aubameyang in particular. But if we can get them involved then we will cause the Spuds problems. Really hard one to call as both teams are inconsistent and prone to absolute brain farts.
Great to see you still around Pinkie. Should be an interesting NLD - I can't call it to be honest but think it will be low scoring - either 1-0, 0-0 or 0-1. Neither of these managers tend to lose matches when in front so I doubt we will get 4-4, 4-2, 2-3, 5-2 and 5-1 matches of the past.
Hello mate, long time no see. Hope life is treating you well fella ? Yeah tough one to call, but neither team are scoring a lot of goals. Wouldn't be surprised to see a cagey 0-0 in this one tbh.
All good mate, a much better work-life balance now. How about you? I agree with you, I just feel the NLD this season feels like Tyne-Wear 10 years ago in the sense that whichever manager loses will have their head on the chopping block and it sets the tone for the entire season. I feel that Arsenal have the slight advantage being the home side but it's just tough to tell. Arsenal's midfield is superior, Tottenham's attack is superior and the defence is about the same. Lloris was unbelievable against us and he'll need to have another game like that if Tottenham are to get anything.
I think the main worry I have is our lack of chance creation under Arteta. He's been here for nearly 2 full years now and I'm still yet to see him implement an attacking/forward-thinking philosophy where our attacking players gel. 2 goals in 5 league games is beyond appalling. Even in Wenger's worst years, we were still capable of putting in some scintillating attacking displays. I've not really seen Arteta show we're capable of this, unless we play lower league opponents. We may well dominate possession against Spurs, but I don't know if we'll do enough to hurt them in the areas of the pitch that matter.
Yeah this is my concern. With players like Aubameyang, Lacazette, Pepe, Saka, Martinelli we are woefully lacking in the goals dept.
Yeah same mate. Can't remember when we last spoke, but I ditched my job in the NHS around 8 years ago to start my own food & drink business. Haven't looked back since. On paper, I think we have the better players. And in the last couple of games we've been much better. It's going to take time for this team to gel and we are still in a massive transition as a club. That said, there will be no sympathy for the losers on Sunday. This is the NLD and it's all or nothing. Like I said, it will be a boring 0-0 now I've said that
That’s great to hear mate. You sure you didn’t look into the future and see this pandemic coming? As for the NLD, anyone’s guess but I think THFC will relish going into this as underdogs. They don’t perform well against Chelsea or Arsenal as faves and Nuno has a good record at the Emirates. We need to see performances from Aubameyang, Pepe, Kane and Alli today because they have been subpar for quite some time.
Yeah the pressure is on arsenal in this game. There’s a massive expectation from the fans to win or at least not lose this one. I think we need to be patient because Nuno will probs pack the midfield for Spurs and try to soak up our pressure. Like you say, it’s gonna need Pepe and Aubameyang to step up and unlock Spurs defence. Im just hoping we play a 3-4-3, which should give us some much needed width to get in behind. I don’t think Spurs offer a huge threat up top and even with Kane & Son we can keep them quiet if we’re on the front foot on the flanks.
I like the optimism with most fans predicting an Arsenal win.. Dont ever recall us doing a number over Nuno.. That's with him managing an inferior side (Wolves) to the spuds. I hope I am wrong, but cannot see us getting anything from this game, and might even get a man sent off!
ESR! 1-0! What a lovely team goal. No idea what Spurs were doing, but no less than we deserve for a great start.
FT. 3-1. Wasn’t happy with our performance from the 75th minute onward, but before that, thought we were worthy winners and completely blitzed them in the first half. Reminded me of the 3-0 win against Man Utd in 2015 when Alexis got a brace in between Ozil’s finish. And what a world class save by Ramsdale to tip Moura’s deflected shot onto the bar. Generally, everyone was fantastic, not a bad word to say about anyone. Always a fabulous feeling beating them lot - COYG!
