Bloody hell. Another frustrating game. The only real bright sparks were Cazorla and Gervinho. RVP was sorely sorely miss. But onwards and upwards.
Honestly this game screams of one thing - lack of preseason. There were some players out there that looked like they needed more games before this.
Exactly, Podolski looked to be on a different wavelength as the rest of the team and some of the players looked rusty. People are blowing this way out of proportion, Sunderland didn't even attempt to attack in the second half.
Earlier in this thread a Sunderland fan said that they no longer fear us, well they sure as hell played like they did. Not one single attack on our goal in the second half.
It wasn't that bad, I agree. Sunderland pretty much parked the bus... we weren't clinical enough. There are signs of a promising season. I'm not upset, just frustrated. Giroud should've burried that chance. We'll click after a few games. At least we didn't concede.
yeah they parked the bus but, we have to expect that from every team of that ilk that comes to us. We have to be CREATIVE enough to get through them. Today we werent but, i saw some positives. Someone needs to tell GERV to shoooooooooooooooooooooooooot !!
We played Ok it wasnt awful. Podolski didnt get the ball enough and Giroud missed the most clear cut chance of the game.
Stand out players were Cazorla and Gervinho for me. Gervinho makes things happen when he is on the ball at least. Cazorla a class apart. Mert the pick from the defence.
Sunderland were clearly playing for the draw: Such negative tactics. That said, Arsenal should have enough to deal with teams playing like that. Ah well, still two weeks of the transfer window and it's only the first game of the season, so a clean sheet's not bad. Plus, there's the added bonus of Liverpool, the comedy club that just keeps on giving.
In fairness, it wasn't that we weren't creative.. we just weren't clinical. There were at least three chances we should've buried, with Walcott and Giroud being two of the culprits.
