Agreed, I like the look of him and there's no point risking our other two if they aren't fully fit when Gabriel looks a good defender so far.
Think this season will see Gabriel overtake Per (gradually) as our main CB, then over the next 2 Chambers takes over from an ageing Kos Hard to believe CB was our crisis position this time last season and now we look sorted there. Would rest one of Per or Kos (whoever is less fit) for the CL game on Wednesday.
I'm not convinced that Kos and Gabriel is a great partnership - personally I think Merts and Gabriel or Kos and Chambers are better (or obviously Merts and Kos).
I think Kos and Gabriel are similar and would complement Per or Chambers better than each other but it is still good enough IMO to be used. Obivously the final plan is a Gabriel-Chambers partnership but it'll be interesting to see how Wenger reaches that.
Out of form Ramsey on the ****ing wing again with Oxo on the bench? I can't take it anymore. ****ing Wenger.
I refuse to laugh at Chelsea unless we win today. Looking at our team, I'm unhappy with Walcott starting as a lone CF and Ramsey out wide. Again. This sort of thinking hinders our team because we lose width and we don't have anyone to hold the ball up. Stoke aren't a team that press high so I can't see Theo having much joy against their defence. Giroud and Walcott should be starting together, not one or the other. They've actually worked well together in the past.
You have Walcott as a striker, Sanchez on the wing and Özil playing in his best role. This game is designed for devastating counter attacking football yet he leaves Oxo on the bench. Watch how our attacks slow down on the right side.
In fairness, Giroud has had a shocker. He has no choice but to drop him. But... If he has dropped Giroud due to his poor form then why keep Ramsey in the XI? Especially in a position where he isn't at his best? I'm struggling to see the logic.
I'd like to see more of Walcott and giroud together. Giroud is good at getting across his man in the box and Walcott is good at getting to the line and putting in low crosses. Walcott created a lot of chances and goals for rvp like that a few seasons back and think it's something he could develop with giroud.
The comments about giroud recently, particularly after his France performance were things like"I bet wenger doesn't drop him", but when he isn't included it's comments about how he should be in the team. Part of the problem is obviously not having an additional CF.
He obviously doesn't trust Bellerin and Walcott or Bellerin and Chamberlain together on the same side, there's no other explanation for his obsession with playing Ramsey there
Exactky. A lack of CF options will become more painstakingly clear as the season goes on. Anywho, come on Arsenal.
We've started well. Can have no complaints so far apart from the finishing... No surprises there though.
