Have to be honest. PSV have been extremely disappointing tonight. It's like they've not tried this half. No pressing, no intensity, no real purpose or fluidity in their passing. We've been coasting for a long time. Expected them to show a lot more than what they've done.
they looked dangerous at times but they got totally outclassed in midfield and Saliba and Gabriel absolutely pocketed De Jong. They couldn’t play off him.
FT. 4-0. That was much easier than I expected. PSV played a high line and didn't press. Not sure how they thought that would work, but considering they'd gone 28 games unbeaten and hadn't lost a game since February, I was expecting a really, really difficult game. People earmarked this as the most difficult fixture in our group, so to sail through with ease is a pleasant surprise. Our players deserve a lot of credit for how they approached the game and limited them to barely any chances. Raya was hardly tested. We were in cruise control for the vast majority of the match. Everyone was well up for it. I don't think anyone deserves below an 8/10. For Mikel, that must have been a dream. Score 3 early goals, then take off key players early in the second half. Jesus, Saka, Rice, Trossard and Zinchenko all coming off early in preparation for the big one on Sunday. Great way to start our CL campaign. Couldn't have asked for more.
Superb return to the CL You could see that the players and fans were excited about the occasion and the expectation was met with a near perfect performance on the pitch. We controlled the game from start to finish and the football was sumptuous. Great to see the depth in the squad coming through now, with us being able to bring on quality in every position.
Yeah was one of our best performances in months. Rice and Odegaard were SUPERB. One of the reasons they barely had a sniff at goal was Rice just mopped up every loose ball. Haverts actually did pretty well. He's surprisingly good in the duels. Gabriel Jesus was class as well. Now on to Spurs just hope we ar'nt a little fatigued for this one.
Man City are of course favourites - great team with the best manager. Bayern are strong but have defensive issues right now. Real are decent but looking less formidable without Benzema. We are currently the bookies 4th choice to win the thing, some Bookmakers putting us above Real. Its kinda crazy that we have been out for 6 years but I actually think we COULD win it this year.
