I hope Giroud plays upfront against Newcastle, and Walcott plays on the right. Newcastle have plenty of Tall Players. We Will need some height for set pieces. Should be a good, open, attacking game.
I'd rather we start with Walcott myself and bring Giroud on if we need to. I think Walcott deserves a run at CF and at home he might get more of a chance to show what he can do. We've got players like Mertesacker and Vermaelen that we can use for set pieces. But it's good to have the option of two different types of attacking play with Walcott and Giroud. p.s Welcome to the board
Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Anita, Williamson, Saylor all out. We'll have to play this - -----Ba------Cisse----- -------Marveaux------- ---Bigi-Tiote-Jonas--- Santon--Colo-Perch--Simpson -----------Krul------------- Jesus Christ. That's both our big CB's out, and our 3 best creative players out also. We've had horrible injuries this season. I proud of the fact that we can still give the big teams a game, even without our best players.
Yeh especially if newcastle do go with that backline using smaller quicker players up front would be the better option. However because we are at home and newcastle will probably have ben arfa an cabaye out i would expect them to drop deep. So pace against that will be very ineffective so maybe it would be better to start with giroud however like a couple of people have said he hasn't started for a few games so keep walcott up top. One thing i will say though is that the movement of that front three will have to be exceptional. I think that this front three is the most mobile and i'd really like to see podolski come off the left wing and get involved in play and interchange positions. It's going back a few years now but i remember a game we had against fulham i think it was at home and we didn't have any fit recognised strikers, so arshavin played up front and (this was when he was an in form player) he played the role so cleverly drawing the big clumsy centre backs our of position and taking the ball into feel but also making quick sharp runs in behind, if there is a copy of that game then walcott should definately study that.
That game was against Stoke. We had some real issues up front that season, but Fabregas was sensational and kept us going.
http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/team-news-giroud-rosicky-diaby-santos Wenger: Just in time for Wenger to use that as an excuse to not buy anyone in the January transfer window.
If Diaby returns to fitness and we can keep him and Rosicky fit (with a fully fit squad we can use them sparingly) then we have a really strong midfield for the second half of the season. I'm still keeping faith that Diaby has some further part to play this season.
If he returns, maybe we should just use him like Spurs used King. Just play him once a week. At the start of this season, we used him in the CL and PL and France also picked him for their games, and it was probably too much for Diaby. The club has to do something different with Diaby because everything else has not worked.
Agree with this He's clearly injury prone, not the usual wear and tear from injuries and over exertion, but a specific propensity due to his muscle imbalance and weakness. He needs games, but he needs to be treated carefully. If we can get it right, he can still offer a lot to Arsenal
