Do we want Nketia to start again? or Martinelli/Laca? Tomiyasu has been training - wonder if he finally gets a start.
I think Nketiah should start again. He's already equalled Lacazette's goal tally from open play in one game Jokes aside, he'll be high on confidence after a brace away to Chelsea and lets be honest. Lacazette would never have scored those goals Eddie did yesterday. I still think he isn't good enough to be a first-team player for us, but he does the basics well. He's quick, presses from the front, works hard, anticipates and can be a decent finisher. The rest of his game isn't Premier League quality. But he's definitely the best option we have right now.
I still don't understand Lacazette's career at Arsenal. He was a proper poacher at Lyon scored a lot of goals (his last Season he scored 37). Now I know the EPL is harder but it just seems like as his all round play has gotten better his goalscoring ability has worsened year on year.
Tomiyasu is back for us, which will be a boost, whereas Ronaldo, Varane and McTominay are back for Man Utd, which will be a boost for them too.
Nketiah starts for me. You don't bench a guy who's just scored a brace away to Chelsea. Saka right, ESR left, Odergaard in the middle with xhaka and Elneny holding MF. Tomiyasu will be a big plus coming back and I thought Tavares had a decent game against Chelsea. We go into this game high on confidence after that result at Stamford bridge. We need to capitalise on it and take all 3 points
2-1. HT. After a bright start, we've looked very shaky at the back. Cedric, Ramsdale and Gabriel need to get their bloody act together. We were in control at 2-0 and then we let them back into the game with some League One standard defending. What the hell were Gabriel and Ramsdale doing? Utterly incompetent by both of them. That said, we had chances to increase our lead and didn't take them. However, the game is too chaotic for my liking. We don't look confident at defending. We need to wrestle control back. There's too much nervous energy. Tomiyasu on at HT?
FT. 3-1. The scoreline flatters us a lot. Good win, an important win, but not a particularly good performance. United had a lot of chances; missed a 1v1, missed a penalty, a marginal decision went our way with Ronaldo's 2nd goal, they could have had another couple of penalties earlier in the match and they had a few other decent chances. On the balance of play, not what we deserve, but at this stage of the season, it doesn't really matter. A win was what we needed and a win is what we got. Onto West Ham. We will need to play better than this, though.
Tavares… …havnt seen a player give me this many nerves since Andre santos. Defensively he is so poor. I was screaming to get him off and I always think he has a mistake in him. I think now that Tomi is back surely we move Cedric to left back? great win nonetheless.
Super happy with the win, but like everyone else has mentioned, we made so many unforced errors and the result could have easily been different. Win is a win and pressure back on the Spuds, come on Brentford!
Great win - Thought this was one of Xhakas best performances for us.(he should have been MOTM) Tomiyasu is back now thank Goodness - he adds a lot defensively and Cedric is all too prone to lapses in concentration. Hopefully the Saka Injury isn't too bad.
Dominating the ball doesn't mean you're the better team. As for the game itself, I don't think there was much in it, but they created too much for my liking and came very close on multiple occasions. We were giving away too much space in transitions and turnovers. Honestly, I don't think either team played particularly well. But the fact we won 3-1 despite not playing great reflects well on us, and awfully on them.
I know Xhaka isn't popular amongst Arsenal fans but if you get 4th it's largely down to him. Yes he makes mistakes but it's easy to see why successive Arsenal managers have placed trust in him.
Missed the game today as I was working at an event, so had to follow it on my phone. Signal dropped out too so I couldn't update the page either . Great result though, and beating Chelsea in the same week is ****ing massive for this group of players COYG
Well pleased for Tavares today for getting a goal and setting us on the path to a big win. He's been feeling the heat since he came back into the team. I thought he did much better against Chelsea and scoring today will give his confidence a much needed boost
Even better knowing the Spuds dropped 2 points! 4th with 5 games to go is now officially down to us to **** up!
I think you'll beat West Ham as they'll have their eyes on probably the biggest game in their history against Frankfurt. We're not getting anything at Anfield which means we need you to lose another of your remaining games which I cannot see happening. Newcastle away could be a tough one though - I thought they'd be on the beach already but their win today disagreed with that theory.
