I agree on the injury thing. I think Wilshere has had ongoing injuries that never quite cleared up. Not being fit has had an impact on his strength and balance and now on his confidence. This will be a test of character for him as he needs to step it up in the face of all the competition around him. I feel that this season will be a defining season for him, and in some ways, make or break. If Wenger goes out and buys that DM we are all after next summer (only real midfield spot up for grabs), then his opportunities dry up further. With a fully fit squad back, he is relegated to the bench, which will not be good enough for one of England's best.

I also think Wilshere's issues are nearly down to confidence. I think Wilshere tends to avoid head on challenges and goes down easily as he's trying to avoid collisions.

When he first broke into the side he was much more fearless and was prepared to run at the opposition. He's short but has a very powerful lower body there's no reason why he can't play as our deepest lying midfielder - but what he really needs is confidence. He needs to go though an extended spell without injury.

In terms of ability he can be a truly World Class player.

Monreal is going to be very hard pressed by Navas and Zabaleta down City's right. Navas is not a player who cuts inside a lot, and Zabaleta has so much energy he's up and down the touchline all day.

Good start from you lot but a blatant dive from Wilshere... very lucky to not get a very early booking
