Just a question lads, as no-one on our board can understand it. why the F did you not buy Remy. Did you se his debut at the scummers place?
Now the dust has settled a bit. I think we can be pretty pleased overall with yesterday's result. Although we probably should have won the game and looked like throwing it away at the end, it's a vast improvement on last season and already we're seeing players like Sanchez, Welbeck, Chambers and a much improved Wilshere who are making a tangible difference to this team.
It does seem odd from an outsider looking in that wenger plays 4-1-4-1 when 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 would appear to suit much better? Shoehorning Ozil onto the right just made it look unbalanced and he was just on the periphery without ever looking likely to get involved. Surely Ozil should be played in the middle of a 3 or not at all, regardless of the fee paid? Monreal doesn't look half the player Gibbs is,have you no one else who can play there! Best I've seen Wilshire play for a long time,he was excellent along with Sanchez who really looks the real deal but Arsenal limitations down the flanks and at set pieces don't appear to have been addressed by wenger
That wasn't the context. The statement was that it was a 'massive improvement' on last season. This is plainly rose tinted nonsense.
Think it was a decent result. Sanchez is showing he can be a real game changer for us. Always plays well under pressure. Having a player like that is in itself a step forward from last Season. Wilshere was a class act as well. Disappointed we conceded the second goal, think we shoulda changed things tactically to just see the game out.
A tactical change wouldn't change the way we defend set pieces though. We need to improve our set ups for those no matter how we play.
Not really, we failed to beat a big team again, threw a lead away because of piss poor defending and a lack of concentration, pretty much same old same, and 1 win in 4 games hardly something to be 'pleased' about. How's it a 'vast' improvement from last season? People keep mixing this home result with our away performance to City, what a bid spin job if any, we played City at home last season AFTER the 6-3 drubbing, and drew 1-1 at home, so how's this an improvement based on our last home performance against City, which also ended in a draw, and we conceded 1 less goal?
This is what they keep spinning lol, it's like they want to ignore we played City at home back in March, and drew 1-1. Shows how desperate it's become to put a positive spin to anything, create alternate realities.
Just for everyone to understand: -We got defeated 6-3 by City in DECEMBER OF 2013 at the ETIHAD -We played City again at the Emirates and drew 1-1 in MARCH OF 2014 at the EMIRATES Okay everybody?????????
It really doesn't make a difference wether those games were home or away. Alexis has given us something extra for theses games compared to last year. He's a big game player while unfortunately Giroud is the complete opposite.
Alexis agreed... But doesn't change the fact our result yesterday was exactly the same as last year. No improvement in result at all.
Big difference, this game was home, not away, secondly we already played them since the 6-3 drubbing, at home, and drew 1-1. So I don't see where this 'improvement' is coming from, where exactly have we improved compared to last time? We played them home, again, and drew, conceding one extra goal, we haven't played them at the Etihad yet. An improvement would've been to have actually beaten them yesterday, getting all 3 points, then we could all talk about an improvement, but we didn't beat them, we drew with them, just like the last time we faced them at home, and just like the last time we've virtually played all big teams at the Emirates, failing to win time and time again. I'm tired of hard fought draws with us coming patting ourselves in the back afterwards, I want a win against our rivals, not draws. We either get destroyed away from home, or fight a hard draw at home which is then seen as an 'improvement', our standards are really really low these days. 27 points out of a possible 93 against the big sides, that speaks for itself, not good enough.
