City are going to rip us a new one. We all argue that playing relegation contenders is very tough this time of year as they fight for survival. Well, City have just as much motivation as the Wigans etc and I fear we will feel their force
Unusually negative coming from you.. I think we will do ok against them. No need to be scared of Man City
Yes but they are on the slide and under pressure. I think you'll beat them at the Emirates, although a nervy 0-0 is also possible.
No more excuses of underestimating, injuries, tiredness etc Simply have to take 3 points, nothing else will do. As ever we are most vulnerable from balls coming in from wide areas and whether wenger plays walcott or oxlade-chamberlain,we simply cant have kolorov at full back.In away games lately we've played Balotelli up top who doesnt hold the ball up or put any sort of shift in giving the opposition centre backs an easy afternoon without being rushed and harried into making mistakes, this obviously mustnt happen on sunday, especially with arsenal having a fairly wobbly defence under pressure for a top side.David Silva is not half the player from early season and i wouldnt have him in my starting line up,id go for similar tactics employed in the carling cup win there this season, soak up and hit them on the break.Line up I'd go for is Hart Richards Kompany Lescott Clichy Milner de Jong Barry Yaya Nasri Aguero Obviously van persie is the biggest threat and we will need Milner,de jong & Barry to work their socks off to close up the gaps in between them and the back 4 and its essential that Barry & clichy in particular stop the supply from the wing into Van Persie, keep him quiet and we can win it Arrogant rag bastards think theyve already won it,a win here and we are back in it
this has a draw written all over it that neither team really want. 2-2 is my guess...i hope arsenal win though....
Think of the pressure on the Oilwell. Lose and the title Manure's. Draw and they have to look at least 2 sides to beat ManU. Who? The tension !!! The drama!!! The abuse !!! - and thats just from us. What will Manure fans say?
I think it's safe to say that we're well up for this game The key for us is getting plenty of balls into Walcott and RVP of course, but I think this could be a game for a midfielder to step up and attack the goal, picking up on any loose balls and 2nd chances in the penalty area. For me Oxo best fills that remit at the moment, I think he deserves a start in a big game. I'd like to see Song, Arteta and the fullbacks pressing the city midfield - and we need Kos and TV to be sharp too.
I think we will fall flat in this game - and mirror the performance against QPR. I have a bad feeling Wenger is going to persist with Ramsey on the wing, which will not help. We might need to rely on Sunderland doing us a favour.
After Walcott words about QPR ("They wanted it more than us" ) I can not see us winning this one. ManCity definitely want it more than Walcott. Arsenal need their backs firmly against the wall to perform, I am afraid.
I hav to disagree, he notes the problem and our recent form suggests that this will lead to us upping our game vs City I can't see Moneybags City winning this
Im backing Arsenal tbh. I reckon 2-0 to the gunners. RVP and vermaelan. However im wanting city to win to cut the gap on scum.
Agree. The fact that the manager and players have admitted that QPR wanted it more speaks volumes. At this stage of the season for our players to go out on a football pitch and not want it as much as the opposition is criminal and shows the lack of character in the team. When we are truly down and the team is getting slated, they seem to pick themselves up, but as soon as they reach a comfort zone they ease off. This lack of concentration, focus, and professionalism has been our undoing for a long time.
I think they were describing how the match actually transpired, rather than how we approached the game Jayram. Sometimes you can set up as best as you think possible and then the opposition are just have that extra edge, getting to balls quicker, closing you down, pressing and having more determination. I think we lacked urgency against QPR and I want to see that change against City - I think we will put in a much more lively performance, the atmosphere will be similar to the Spurs game and I think everyone will be up for it, so I don't agree that we'll 'fall flat and mirror' the QPR performance'. Even if we lose, as long as we put in the right amount of effort and urgency, then that's all we can ask. As it is, I think we will put in a completely different performance against City - and I think we'll be rewarded with a win
Hope so. I was utterly pissed off that the team showed so little fight against QPR at such a crucial stage. To then hear the manager and players admit that they didn't want it as much as QPR was a real slap in the face. There is a difference between things going for you on the day and a lack of motivation. The latter is totally unacceptable.
The point is though Jayram, that what they said was in retrospect, as to how the game panned out. Walcott said 'I felt as though they wanted it more than us', not that we'd set up to go out to play in a 'let's play like we don't want it as much as them' kind of way. QPR had a real urgency that we lacked and we need to put that right against City. But I think you're making too literal a comparison between the description of our performance that day and the actual intent that the team had.
I am not saying we purposely went out to 'not want it more' - but the fact remains when the going got tough we didn't raise our game or even work harder. That's a lack of character. You can continue to make excuses for the team if you want - but I will not change my view that QPR wanting it more than us, by our own admission, is unacceptable and completely without defence.
please please please mr wenger , give oxo a full game , dont wait till we are one down and in the 75th minute.
