Tempting to call it a free hit, but we really need to maintain our momentum and try and cement that top 4 spot.

We’ve got a tricky away tie at Villa on Saturday so we can’t really afford to be dropping points.

I don’t think we’re good enough to be playing it out from the back against Liverpool to be honest. So I’d like to see us go for a back 3 Holding, Gabriel and White, then play Tierney and Cedric/Tomiyasu on the flanks with Xhaka, Partey, odergaard in the middle. Martinelli, Laca and Saka up top.

Quick distribution from Ramsdale out to the wide men and try turn Liverpool into the back foot facing their own goal.

If only we could start the game with 12 players like you're suggesting.

Must win for us, anything less than 3pts is a failure and title gone.

Top 4 is secured for you.

Nervous because we need to win every game, every one.

It's a good tactic, which should give us a definite advantage

I'm not expecting us to win at all, not least because we have Cedric playing. Don't get me wrong, he's performed OK in Tomiyasu's absence, but the players he'll be up against tonight will be miles above anyone he's been up against over the past 5 games. His lack of raw speed and positional sense may cost us. He's an obvious weakness to target. Also have to hope there's no rashness from Gabriel or Xhaka with some of their challenges or passing. Liverpool are transition kings.

Lacazette up against Van Dijk and Matip doesn't fill me with hope, either.

My prediction is 3-1 Liverpool, but I am hoping we catch them on an off day and can get a draw.

A draw will represent a victory, however doubt that, as long as we are not humiliated!

Decent half. Been the better team so far.

would expect pool to be better in the 2nd half. Though

Keep it going Arsenal, half way there, the kraut is mouthing off to the 4th official, hence you are upsetting them.

ah well, game set and match! We were never going to take anything from this game anyway. Just to keep the score line down now. I will take a 2-nil loss now.

Only Liverpool can punish you like that. Turn off for 5 mins and you will find yourself two goals down.

Ah well. Thought we were excellent for the first 45 mins.

Pff. Not convinced by that and any mention of "they get three points without playing at the top of their game". Meh. Bullshit. Both their goals were just lucky. A shot ramsdale would save more often than not. And a ridiculously fortunate ricochet letting Robertson run in free to cross in. 50/50 game.

I didn’t think we played badly, and I thought most of the players put in a good shift. Let’s be real, Liverpool are a more complete team than us, with seasoned winners and a top manager.

That performance would be good enough to beat most teams in the league IMO. Unfortunately, we had a dodgy defensive spell where Liverpool capitalised on our sloppiness and took the wind out of our sails.

Villa game is massive. Need to win that.

Tonight's result shows we are nothing but flat track bullies! We are way off the pace with respect to challenging for honours! We definitely need a striker and good squad depth!

If Man City do sign Haaland I would like to see us maker and effort to sign Gabriel Jesus.

    Wrong Thread - But still.

Not a fan of Gabriel Jesus personally. I think we need to be looking at someone with a better profile IMO.

What does 'better profile' mean? I mean someone like Jonathan David may be scoring more goals and playing more games but I would say Gabriel is a more talented player with a higher ceiling.

Personally I think the key with a striker signing would be 25 or under and someone with 'top level' potential.

Again, I disagree. I don't think he has a high ceiling at all. He's been very average for Man City overall considering the talent in front of him and now doesn't even start for them since he's been back from injury. He's only ever hit more than 10 Premier League goals on 2 occasions. He lacks height, lacks physicality, can't play with his back to goal, isn't efficient in front of goal (when you look at chances created for him, his return isn't good enough) and is a very streaky player.

I think someone like Victor Osimhen would be a very good profile for us and is the type of striker Arteta wants.

LOL - yeah we very much disagree. Osimhem would be a Pepe-esque style signing IMO.

For me talent is the most important factor - its up to the manager to get the most of a player. If we don't buy him I guarantee he has good career in Italy, Spain or Germany for big Club.
