What i don't understand is all what you might call our firstchoice defence are all international footballers.Except for Chesney they have all been capped by the top ranked FIFA international teams.
That's the puzzling thing. We have good quality international players right through our team, yet they make simple mistakes. There is definately some confusion going on with some of our players, to what they have to do sometimes. Should i stay or should i go.....
The first Liverpool goal said it all really. A slip by Sagna led to them crossing the ball in. Vermaelen panicked and missed the ball. There was a man completely free at the far post to pick it up (where's Gibbs?). After a terrific save from Szczesny, Ramsey failed to control the loose ball. Then, going full circle, Suarez's shot deflects of Sagna, and goes in. It was a comedy of errors. We compound our mistakes by panicking on the ball, and failing to organize our defense properly. We need composed defenders and better organisation. Vermaelen and Koscielny seem to panic a lot more than Mertesacker, although Merts form has been crap lately.
Redman in peace. Been reading your comments about your defence last night. I'm sorry but it was an shambles! Before the match I was listening to Radio 5 and it was said on there that Wenger had banned Bold from working with the defence. Is that true? The thing I couldn't understand was your midfield. Even before our first goal they seemed to be totally intent on trying to push forward and totally ignored their responsibility to screen in front of of your back '4'. When you push your FBs on then that 4 quickly becomes an exposed back 2/3 (we know because we've been guilty of doing that all season!). All things being equal it was an exciting and hasn't done too much damage to either of our CL hopes. See you next season.
Santos was the worst, but Mertesacker wasnt good either. At the moment, Gibbs is the only reliable defender that we have. That's not good.
Gibbs started the season much better than he's been in the last couple of months. Sagna has been reliable for a the last few weeks though. Over the whole season, Vermaelen has actually been our best defender, which isn't saying much, because he's been inconsistent too.
I think the Bould rumour is just mischief making to be honest with you.I can't see Wenger appointing Bould as his assistant and then not allowing him to coach the team.
Lesson #1 :- You pass to a player who has the same coloured shirt as yourslf and not a player who has a different coloured shirt.
It did seem strange to me but the reporter on Radio 5 we giving it as 'inside info' hence the question.
The evidence speaks differently. Keown was amazing in 2006 while doing his coaching badges, he wasn't kept on when he'd finished. Wonder why? He clearly wanted to be a coach, he did his badges, and he was amazing with the defense, then suddenly, it's goodbye!! Same thing with Bould from the looks of it. Wenger appears to not want to share the limelight. In this case, Bould was doing good work, but Arsenal weren't scoring, so the emphasis shifted from defense to attack - that I'm fine with - but now that the team are scoring, they should surely start having more defensive training to fix the current issues?
1547: ARSENAL LATEST BBC Sport's David Ornstein reports that Arsenal are hopeful of signing a left-back before the transfer window closes to cover for Kieran Gibbs, who is out for three weeks with a thigh injury. Arsenal retain their interest in Barcelona striker David Villa but the ball is firmly in the Spanish club's court. Ornstein, who has come into work wearing a suit such is the magnitude of the day, says that Arsenal have also been linked with Cameroon international Gaetan Bong of Valenciennes.
