The relative lack of pre-season for the Spurs Euro 2016 England contingent did
show for at least the first 50 mins against Everton. Having said that, Lamela
clocked up the air miles over the summer and he looks like he is on speed at the moment.

But again, there is always the air of dogma having over Wenger.
With the Euro 2016 CB injuries/fatigue, Pochettino used the pre-season to
blood an academy CB against Juventus/Atletico/Inter. As a result, the kid
looks like he could front up if a real CB injury plague hits the Spurs seniors.

Wenger seems to have done his usual meh and hence the result yesterday.

He did OK. Chambers was very good aerially but not very good otherwise. Was making the wrong choice of pass and when he got the right choice execution was poor. Holding was steady overall. Just poor on the Coutinho 2nd goal.

As mentioned, he did okay. The goals we shipped yesterday were largely down to poor cover at full back.

How many games will they have to play before one of your senior CBs return
(given your next two opponents - Leicester in particular) ??

Thing is we shouldn't have been in a position where we are starting the season with a young Championship player and a makeshift 21-year old defender at the heart of defence in the first place. We have had ample time to get players in and we've not utilised the whole time we've had in the transfer market to get players in. This is us reaping what we sow.

I also take issue with the time he's given players off. How can Ramsey play, yet Giroud, Ozil and Koscielny not be fit enough to play? Ozil got to the same stage of the Euros as Ramsey did and they both only played one game more than Giroud and Koscielny, yet three of these players need more time off...

Why could the likes of Sagna, Lloris, Fonte, Emre Can, Kante (who Antonio Conte said would feature vs West Ham today) and I'm sure others who I've missed out, make the squads of their respective sides, yet ours were nowhere to be seen?

The whole decision-making process at the club just seems to be totally wrong and we as fans have to accept we are complicit in this mess. Whenever we've had a chance to voice our disapproval, we've not done it sensibly. If we win the next few games, everyone will act like it's all hunky dory again. Like we have no problems and our squad is fine as it is. And Wenger will get let off the hook yet again because so many of our fans (and I'm not necessarily talking about on here) take such a short-term view of things.

I'm expecting Koscielny to make a return next week. I think Holding will be dropped (I think he is better than Chambers), but Chambers and Koscielny have played together before. I would personally send Chambers out on loan to a team like Newcastle, Brighton or Villa.

Well this is assuming Mustafi comes in

Wenger said that the lack of experience and leadership cost us the game...

And whose fault is that, Arsene? <doh>

TBH whilst the names have changed a bit the excuses haven't. Same old same old from Mr Wenger. Don't hold too much hope for the season.

As you know lads i would never take the piss
    This is a good post.

I can understand how gooners feel, basically at the end of the line with Wenger and no one else can see it (the Board, Wenger) type thing, i also have much respect for the bloke (as im sure 99% of those fans wanting him gone do too) and what he has done at Arsenal over the years but agree his time is up and Arsenal need to take a new direction with fresh ideas on the pitch.

it would be a damn shame should Wenger be allowed to stay long enough to sour his legacy with the club but you just know, no matter what come the end of the season he will not be sacked and that **** is frustrating for me, (a fan of wenger point of view) never mind being a gooner myself and going through it for so long.

theres really only one thing the fans can do to change the boards mind and that leave games early on masse, not go to games, protests ect which is just horrible **** to see at any club and i hope it doesnt go that way but what else can you do?

Never too late but what's a bigger question is who would you replace him with?

It's never too late? Er, ok then.

Your question has been asked a million times every season, mostly by Piskie. For someone with 4000 posts I'd have thought you might have read some of them.

There are always managers available, it's just impossible for everyday fans to know who. In the recent past we could have had Klopp, Mourinho, Guardiola, Conte, Emery, Ancelotti amongst others... Other clubs don't find it too difficult to find a manager or put with mediocrity for such extended periods. If we openly searched for managers many more would become available and attracted by what we gave to offer.

But you're wording that as if you think it would be difficult to replace Wenger and that what he does is hard to replicate.

I have known Piske from day one on this forum. Wenger has been a good manager for you and his teams have always played attractive football. he has been your most successful manager of the modern era but some of the problems he has encountered have not been his doing. The burden of frugality due to the new stadium cost you ground against other teams. I'm not sure another manager is going magically improve your situation.

Am I the only one sat here listening to the this bullshit about resting players because of the Euros, thinking "Hang on, didn't the Euros end like a ****ing month ago?!"
How much rest do these guys need?
Surely if they are tired from the Euros, then the pre season friendlies would have been the time to rest them, you know, straight after the tournament, in a friendly, where there is nothing at stake.

Why rest them in the opening PL match against Liverpool ffs? Makes not a lick of sense whatsoever.

Has yes. Past tense. A long time he was a good manager for us.

Utterly irrelevant to whether he should be our manager now
The problems that I and others moan about are his doing
Dear lord, you're one of them.

I'd guess you'd be the first one to cry should any new manager fall short of your previous two decades. How would you feel about a relegation battle instead of battling at the other end?
