Sixteen successive seasons in the Champions League for Wenger now. Whatever you think about him, that is some record.
Oy, don't call Ramsey a cumrag! TT will have you for that... Some great timing from Ramsey for those goals. I hope Assad is ok.
Ramsey is going into the derby with a brimful of confidence. Carzola did very well. Our defence was shaky in the first half but were solid in the 2nd. Only thing I'm worried about is our striking options. Pod has a hamstring injury, Giroud.... still not convinced, who else do we really have?
Miyaichi looked good when he came on - going forward he is exciting and can put a good ball into the box (his cross for jenkinson was quality) and his pace means he is able to get back to defend how Walcott does which i like from awide player. Ihope he gets achance in some cup games this season. Szcz i think did really well today. When he came out it worked (i loved it when he got the opposition player to dive and then laughed at him!) and he made some excellent saves, for a young keeper he really is very good. I'd like us to get in an experienced keeper to help him learn (or bring in seamen/lehmann to help coach him 1-on-1) but im happy with where he is at in his progression. Pleased Monreal got game time and i think with him and Gibbs we are strong at LB. Ramsey motm once again. No need to say more. Happy with the performance from the team, we have a great midfield and i actually think all of the players we currently have are good enough quality to be part of a trophy winning Arsenal squad. We still need to bulk out the squad and add a game changer or two but i like the base that we have to work with. p.s. if Podolski is out for any length of time we will need a player able to playas a wing forward asap.
Good game but we were quite clearly in 2nd gear for most of it. We need to sign players now tbh, anyone.
I was swinging around the lampost with my old neighbour Bill who used to jump over the wall into the old north bank with his mates back in the 5O's Die hard Arsenal fan even as an old fella, he'd waited eighteen years for that title and he was crying with joy. I'm still a bit shocked that we won O-2 away at Liverpool as the odds were stacked against us. That night was the best I've ever experienced so far as an Arsenal fan.
I also waited 18 years for that title.I remember sitting on the step of my local, time was nearly up and I couldn't face seeing us losing the title even though we'd won the game.A cheer went up in the pub and I thought it was the Liverpool fans in the pub celebrating.A mate of mine came outside and told me Rocastle had scored.I ran through the village screaming. It was only when I'd calmed down and gone back into the pub that I found out it was Thomas who'd scored. What a great night it was to be an Arsenal fan.
I was watching the game with a Liverpool fan, a Man Utd fan and West Ham fan who was a Gooner for the evening. I remember the game going into the last couple of minutes and thinking that we had come so close by winning at Anfield, but just missing out on the title. I still remember Steve McMahon on the Tele waving his one finger at his Liverpool team mates 'one more minute' and thinking we were finished. When Alan Smith headed that ball onto Mickey Thomas and put him through it seemed to take forever for him to shoot, when it went in I remember going ****ing mental and seeing my Liverpool mate with his head in his hands. When the final whistle went, I was outside and my old mate Bill and his wife Ivy were already in the street with their Arsenal scarves dancing around the lampost. It was the perfect fairy tale end to the season. Similar to Man City's recent title that they snatched away from Utd the season before last.
