Some are waiting to reserve judgement? Waiting for what exactly? Every year is the same story, if you ever wanted strong empirical evidence that Wenger needs to go, then the past 8 years up to this moment is the best empirical evidence someone could ask for.

The fans who want to reserve judgement are the same fans who keep saying ok I'll give Wenger another season, the other season comes, **** all gets done, we go backwards, and then they say ah ok ok we will give him another one. Wenger's used all his lives, time to go.

Heck, even forgetting about today's loss, our position in the table being so behind United is enough damning reason for Wenger to go, as that's just not good enough for a club like Arsenal to be 20+ points behind the leaders, that's some mid table bull ****.

I think these "waiting to reserve judgement " people have been defending his ineptitude for so long that to suddenly make an about face and admit the obvious , would make them look stupid.

They know who they are , no names , no pack drill .

They are " waiting " now to see if we finish in CL football next year .

A month ago they were " waiting " to see if he buys some real quality in the window .

That came and went and so they move on to the next saving grace .

When we are on channel 5 on thursday nights , what will you be " waiting " for then . ?

Will you even then say he is the best man for the job ?

    probably......

Arsenal have regressed. However you flavour it, however you want to dress it up, Arsenal are going backwards.

I don't expect them to win titles consistently, because they don't have the financial power of other clubs. I expect them to punch AT their weight - behind Man Utd, City, Chelsea, but comfortably ahead of Spurs, Everton.

I expect the occasional Trophy, but more than that, I expect the Team, Manager and Club to make a genuine attempt to win competitions. For this I expect a squad of players that is not just good enough to scrape 4th by the skin of their teeth, but one with quality right through, and quality in depth also.

I expect mistakes to be righted, players to be coached and tangibly improve, poor players to be moved on, and tactics to be improved upon.

What I see, is poor squad depth, poor tactics, poor play, lack of motivation, season-on-season regression and a failure to address glaring obvious problems that occur season after season while fans watch and reassess their expectations from winning titles, to winning cups, to scraping into the Top4 being classed as a trophy.

When Arsene arrived, he was a visionary. He was almost 10 years ahead of his time. He was fresh, new, exciting, brilliant, genius, le Professeur. But after that time, as other teams progressed, he stood still. He no longer innovates, he no longer even motivates. The Arsene Wenger who took the Premiership by storm no longer exists. The one who manages the Club now is no longer the best man for the job. He is no longer fit for purpose. His stubborn refusal to change with the times, to rely on others, has been his downfall.

For the good of the club, Wenger must step aside at the end of the season, while some of the fond memories still remain. If he chooses to call time, he will preserve most of his legacy. If he is ousted by fan pressure, as he surely will be when this decline continues, it would be a travesty, and the breaking of a man who should be considered a legend of the Club.

Brilliantly said, mate. Time has come for Wenger to move on, we have the same problems every year, the players have changed, the assistant manager has changed but we still have the same problems that are not being fixed and it won't be unless Arsene leaves.

    Ok, so I disagree.

I don't think Wenger should move on this summer. I think he should be given the summer window to strengthen, with the board's backing and a proper acknowledgment from the club that if we're going to compete with Utd, City and Chelsea, then we need to buy top quality in a number of areas, throughout the squad . AND actually doing it, instead of saying we can do it and doing **** all.

If we have another summer of missing out on key players and we go into another season ill equipped, and end up making the same mistakes again, then I will be calling for change. But I think Wenger deserves a full transfer window with the money that is now available. Giving him one Jan window after eight frugal years is not really fair.

Spending money will not solve his continual coaching and tactical flaws PISKIE. A suite of World Class players would play better, but it would still be papering over the cracks of his vastly obvious inefficiencies, ineptitude, and raw unwillingness to change. His time, for me, is over.

How much do you think he's got to spend, out of interest?

There are issues around tactics, but for me the main issue is quality of players through the squad. We've been hamstrung over the last 8 years and it's a minor miracle that Wenger has kept us in the CL. I think he needs to spend now and get the right players in that will help the English contigent along with Cazorla take the club up to the next level again.

This is where there is some confusion, I have heard that all wengers so called war chests have to include wages for the payers bought, but I'm not sure if that means wages for 1 year or the duration of the players contract. If its the latter 70 million will not get you much in the modern day (probibly only tw0 very good players on 100+k a week), this is why I think some people end up with the wrong idea when the board states that there is money available, as we are never sure what needs to be included. Most people hear 70 million and think it could buy us a lot, but if wages have to be included in that, then it may not get us what people think.

I just posted the same in another thread. The trouble is that your wages are already very high when you compare them to who you're competing with currently(Us) and who you want to compete with(United).
