So a central mid of Ramsey and Wilshere with no proper backup I guess. Ramsey had better be on his game. Nothing about Cazorla though. Good lord, TT neg-repped me saying I personally insulted him! I'm not sure I did, but whatever. In future, I'll be using his posts as an example of how not to personally insult people
Wenger has been saying almost since he signed Ox that his future lay in the middle, but even if that were not the case, I still wouldn't be totally freaked out. We didn't have many options back when Arteta suddenly took over back there. Who knows, perhaps we will see Rosicky suddenly being a superstar holding player. Hey look - I think I positive repped you a while back on fairly fragile grounds too, so call it a wash.
Tomorrow is like 1984 for me, new season starting so excited to watch football again but know we can't win the league and the best we can hope for is a European berth come May and a possible Cup run. Few beers in the Highbury Barn, Iznik for a bite then I'm desperately hoping for a fluent comprehensive performance and 3 points, anything less and the atmosphere could get poisoness, I really do fear for AW if we go knowhere and the crown turn on him. Anyone else going let's hope we all enjoy....
I'm going, just got back to London today, ****ing hell, can't believe we're starting the new season with no new players and such a bare thin squad.
I was looking at our numbers and we have got 24 players, of those Diaby is completely crocked, and Bendtner and Park aren't relevant. Gnabry is in the squad, but probably not up to snuff yet. So we have 20 players, 5 of whom have shortish-term injuries - Monreal, Sanogo, Arteta, Vermaelen, and Ryo, which = 15. So it is a bit nasty to be sure. The good news is that of all the injuries, only Arteta would be a nailed in starter. Bad news is that there are probably going to be at least 3 young players on the bench that we hope desperately we don't have to use.
It is a little tight with our squad but we should cope for the time being. It is a little risky with so many games in such a short space of time but i'm hoping Wenger pulls a rabbit out of the hat and we don't get too many injuries. As for the insults, not sure you did to be honest. The problem is some people take Wenger criticism too personally.
Things aren't as bad as 1984.Back then the team really was ****e and the club was on the bones of it's arse.It would have been around that time that that the club were giving season tickets to anyone who helped paint the stadium
It was when he said, "Are you a modern art critic? You sound like someone who could look at a pile of dog**** and call it a masterpiece." A modern art critic, A MODERN ART CRITIC!!!! That is the absolute vilest of slurs! Far worse than anything cym has had to deal with. That any Arsenal fan could stoop so low, to say such a hurtful thing!
I agree, I said it was like 1984 to me, the club is clearly in a very different place to those days. What is similar and the point I was getting at, is that I'm going for a few beers and a day out not expectant of anything tomorrow or for the season, it's back to going football for the crack, not in the hope of challenging for honours which is where we've been in recent years. Lowered expectations will probably mean increased enjoyment. As for 1984 it was all about a decent cup run, beating Tottenham and trying to make Europe, of course the 1985 Heysel riots put all English clubs out of Europe for a few years (and the European Cup for us after 89 league title) and from 1991 when the ban was lifted we were winning things and competing in Europe, which is why I made the comparison with 1984
Ah, the calm before the storm... When fans come together To laugh at the Spuds forlorn Hopes fade, now cry to your mother! ...bitches
First game I went to wasn't even Arsenal, it was a charity shield between Utd and Chelsea at old Wembley. Chelsea won 2-0
