Reading the match preview on the website is f--cking depressing....The website is really trying to rally and get people excited with fighting for 4th spot, like it's something so incredibly uplifting for fans to get motivated about. This is the saaaaaaame **** position we found ourselves last season, and we're all supposed to be all giddy about it eh? YAAAAAAAY we have a good chance of getting 4th, YAAAAAAAY our only ambition left for us this season is salvaging 4th spot, YAAAAAAAAAAAAY how bloody f--king exciting. The irony is that getting 4th spot will most likely amount to nothing as we've seen this season and last, we just make it to the last 16 only to get our asses handed to us, and get knocked out. Last season we got destroyed 4-0 by Milan (which I witnessed live), this time we got humiliated at home 3-1 (which again I witnessed live) and it really should've been maybe 4-0 against us if Bayern didn't slack off because the game got so easy for them. Pathetic is the best way to sum it up.
There's nothing else they can post now mate. The season is over except for 4th. The situation is what it is, so we need to get behind the Team now, show a united front & roar them into the Top4. Taking stock is reserved for summer now.
Can't see what else you have, CL qualification is all you can achieve now, just like last season. Qualification this season means you've more or less stayed the same, failure to do so and you're worse than last season and without any CL football next season you'll have even more of a tough time getting any class players interested (assuming you actually intend on buying anyone of course) I understand what you are saying, it demonstrates a huge lack of ambition but I think considering how things have played out for you this season, finishing 4th is something to get behind. Not making 4th can result in different things. One, the overwhelming evidence of Wenger's failure provoking an urgent change in strategy in both football and transfer deals or could end up being a Liverpool type situation but without the reckless spending. Are Arsenal fans willing to take that risk if given the choice?
There was a real selection of fans at the M6 Toll services this morning,us,Portsmouth,Stretford and Fleetwood Town
Arsenal: Szczesny, Jenkinson, Mertesacker, Vermaelen, Monreal, Arteta, Diaby, Wilshere, Walcott, Giroud, Cazorla Arsenal subs: Mannone, Koscielny, Rosicky, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ramsey, Gervinho, Podolski
Like I've said, making Vermaelen captain has turned out to be a disastrous call by Wenger. Just give it to Arteta now and drop Verm after every ****ty performance. I don't give a **** whether it hits his motivation. He isn't a leader, and he isn't a CB that should start either.
Villa's defence is a load of ****. Only the keeper and maybe Clarke are PL standard. We have to smash this lot.
Very frustrating that Rosicky isn't getting a look in. Diaby has been poor for a while. I suppose Wenger is wanting his physical presence? But if so, why no Podolski? I would have gone Merts & Kos at the back as they haven't lost as a partnership this season. Cazorla & Theo need to track back today, as a clean sheet is vital & Jenks & Monreal are inexperienced in the PL. I expect Villa to target Jenkinson as he was sent off in his last game. A lot of pressure on Wilshere to create & Giroud to hold up & bring the creative players in. I fancy Arsenal, if they click, to school Villa today. They MUST start brightly. Too many poor first halves have cost dear lately.
Could be that he wants Wilshere in the AM position and thinks Diaby would be better than Rosicky in the CM position. He has moved Cazorla out to the wing after all. I agree that Diaby has been poor, and he seems to be AW's favorite player, but he could be right with this call. Would Rosicky be better in CM?
Main reason I think Wenger's decided playing Diaby is the strength factor and yes, Wilshere to be pushed in a more attacking role.
Left too many gaps at the back for the counter. One thing that Villa has is bags of pace and we need to be careful about this.
