Atletico Bilbao won the bear last year and they went on to have a pretty good season, so the omens are good so far. Good luck next season, except when we play you of course. Also hands off the 4 kids we played today.
Re: Lansbury, I think, like many others have already said, that'd he'd be an excellent utility player and work his guts out for us, but I think that Wenger only likes youngsters that have the potential to make the first team rather than those that will just be squad players
Agreed he is utlility player but last year proves how importnat such players can be. If we dont buy a creative midfielder i dont see whu he cant be our park ji sung
Hopefully that ****heap Forecast plays against us both times this year! Completely at fault for Gerv's goal, but Mannone was also very bad. Not really many standout performers yesterday, like someone said earlier Lansbury did nothing apart from his goal against Anderlecht (which Jenko had a good assist for), Ignasi Miquel was dodgy as hell at the back with some iffy backpasses which almost cost us goals. Was pleased to see Martin Angha out there as he looks good in reserve games that I've watched, but he was sometimes a little lost against De Ridder which I'm hoping isn't a sign for the future for him. On another note, Lucas Biglia was easily the player of the tournament, completely bossed both games he played in, played some good passes and was great at winning the ball and moving it on quickly.
Forecast has never played a league game for us, so I'd highly doubt it mate. If he did play I could see us conceding about 8.
I actually think Lansbury will end up playing more like a Scott Parker style role. Like Scott Parker he's starting off as an attacking mid but his best attributes are his energy, tackling and passing. I could see him moving to a DM role in a few years. I like him alot as a player just wonder if he's 'technical' enough for Arsene Wenger.
Lansbury just aint that good. Didn't impress me at all for West Ham, but then again Fat Sam wouldn't know a gifted footballer if one sat on his face, so maybe I should reserve judgement.
