Arsenal vs AC Milan - Match Thread

Discussion in 'Arsenal' started by Sanj, Mar 4, 2012.

  1. Sometimes, and regularly in England, fans get carried away with glorious failures.

The truth is we were great in the first half, poor in the second (with players like Walcott, Song, and Gibbs completely losing concentration), and absolutely dreadful in the first leg.

That is not worthy of praise in my view.

Over the course we went out against an average side.

It easy to get carried away with a good half of football, but remember - we lost over the two legs and are out.

Gutted about that mate. But equally, Milan should have buried one very similar 15 mins later.

Great game - nothing but pride for the lads. We've done ourselves no disservice tonight and we need to take that fighting spirit into the run in to make sure we nick the Spuds 3rd spot.

Luckily we're playing next Monday night so plenty of recovery time. They done themselves proud tonight- a mature, controlled performance. Rosicky really is regaining his form and there's plenty of positives from tonight, bring on the Toon!

Bound to happen in late season. We have overworked rvp to be honest. I doubt he will be fit for anything come the euros.

Nothing Personal, but if we were third, I'd like Newcastle to get fourth, be good to have different teams competing, you know?

There were plenty rubbishing Rosicky, Sagna & Gibbs a short while ago......

and they have the nerve to complain about my lack of enthusiasm for Song & Walcott.

Agree to some extent but I think you're being a bit harsh. We clearly need top class reinforcements in the summer but going by current form, top four is certainly an achevable target. Then we can build on it in the summer. <ok>

How many years have we assumed we would strengthen in the next window?

Like it or not jayram is right. We capitalised on an overconfident and unprofessional milan during 1 half. The rest of the time we were outclassed and out muscled. We will get 3rd though. And then we need to regroup in the summer.

With respect - hasn't that been a common statement between Arsenal fans for about 5 years?

  13. Well it looks as though we can get top 4, though it will be very close.

I am only talking about the Milan games - and over the 180 minutes we were poor and deservedly got knocked out.

Yes but I think wenger doesnt have unshakable faith in the players we currently have. Unlike a few years ago.

Yeah it's never nice getting put out, but if you can make a statement then you can raise your head and take something from it.

The experience will be great for players like Chamber too.

I'd like you to get 3rd to pipe the Spurs fans down! But it will be tough.

We won't get 4th. 5th tops but unlikely, 6th maybe. A way off atm.

Carling was great, but it has also resulted in our League performances have gone down. Exect it to continue if we continue in the FA Cup.

  16. I don't agree with that, our league performances have been good, it is the results that have been the problem. Just ask these Arsenal fans...

Good decision to let Arshavin go on loan, isnt't it?

    #177
  18. Arshavin would have done nothing in that game, same as he had done nothing since his debut season!

Well depends how you judge good mate?

I don't think our performances have been that great of late. At the start of the season, and against Arsenal we were unlucky - but we cannot score and havent picked out points - that has to be judged as poor.

As we got further in the Carling we've stopped picking up points.

    Patronising nonsense.

Arsenal played brilliantly right up to the point where we lost Oxo and Walcott. Had they of stayed on I think we would have got the 4th.

We rightly deserved criticism for the first leg and we gave it then, but tonight we deserved nothing but praise.

We showed everything that we've asked of this team recently in this game tonight, so they deserve credit for that too.

It's nothing to do with some kind of sentimental 'glorious defeat', but more about your failure to recognise the positives from the game and how the team still deserve credit despite going out.
