Arsenal vs AC Milan - Match Thread

Discussion in 'Arsenal' started by Sanj, Mar 4, 2012.

  1. I don't think we ever picked up points consistently. All the other sides have had a golden spell and a run of undefeated games, we haven't. We have been picking points up steadily thoughout the season. The goalscoring issue has been there since day one. However, we have played good football throughout too. I don't think the Carling Cup run has effected our league campaign.

Edit: Not once this season has our strongest eight players been on the pitch together, the strongest seven have been on for just 15% of game time. I do this has effected us.

We are in our worst run of the season though and that does correlate with the Carling Cup. I would also state Chelsea have had a poor run, Arsenal have dropped points but we have managed to do worse. We missed lots of opportunities to catch up but have not taken them.

I agree with your goalscoring point though. Suarez has been poor in front of goal, and Carroll, is well Carroll.

Who gives a crap? We lost over two legs, but that's the past. We won 3-0 against AC Milan tonight, on the back of beating Tottenham 5-2 and Liverpool 2-1. And we deserved to win tonight.

You can cry over the past, but if you're looking towards the future run-in ... this was a stupendous result for us. Confidence all round, bring on Newcastle.

  6. I dont give credit for losing efforts. That is for losers <ok>

We did not play well in the second half today, but we played brilliantly in the first. At the end of the day, the lack of effort and belief in Italy was vital. As it was a two legged match, I am judging it over the two matches, and on balance we were poor.

In Oxo, we may have found our creative midfielder. Losing him cost us a chance. I'm really proud to be a gooner after tonight though, we nearly pulled off the greatest ever comeback, and we showed spirit and class.

Remember when spurs lost 4-3 to inter in the san siro and they treated it as a win? We dont want to fall into that trap. Tonights result could of been 8-0 milan and the result is the same. We are out of the champions league.

Having said that I do believe we played decent and this bodes well for future games.

  9. I agree we have dipped in terms of results but don't believe our performance levels have. Crossed wires?

Ps - not sure if you saw my edit above:

Not once this season has our strongest eight players been on the pitch together, the strongest seven have been on for just 15% of game time. I do this has effected us.

  10. I would rather we turned up in Italy and went through <yikes> This is one instance where the past actually mattered!

It's what he does. He will continue to turn tonight into a negative and repeat the same stuff over and over in every thread (a hundred times if he has to) until he gets people to bite and the fights start. It's what he does and it's his only reason for being on here. I highly recommend the ignore button :)

I understand what your saying mate. And you are spot on correct. But obviously we have to give credit for tonight and say that it bodes well for the future. But it was a meaningless 3-0 win. We are still out. I dont think we would of won that game 3-0 if the first leg had been 2-0 to milan.
