FFS, what are Wigan playing at ? Crap defending which has cost them their PL place. Wigans last 2 home games against Tottenham and Swansea have cost them 5 points. Leading 2-1 in both games and then foooo king them up.
Shame, as i was looking forward to watching Sunderlands final PL game on sunday @ Spurs. Ruddy heck.......

Really when you look at Wigan they should be good enough to stay up, but sometime you have to grind results out, not play pretty football all the time.

Could not agree more John. Those 2 home games with Spurs and Swansea have cost Wigan very dearly as they should have shut up shop for 2 wins. Wigans defending has been there main problem all season,, sadly for them.

Just looking at next season, Wigan have a very busy start to the season.

FLC ko on the w/end of 3rd august
Wigan should get a bye from round one of the coc
FLC on w/end of the 10/11th has Wigan returning to Wembley to play Manchester Utd in the charity/community shield (fac winners v. pl winners) so the missed league game will have to be squeezed in sometime in august as well as round 2 of the coc. Wigan start there Europa Cup games in early sept. It will be interesting to see who stays and who goes from Wigan this summer.

It's ****ing ******ed how people define 'big' and 'small'.

Southampton's honours list amounts to one FA Cup - the same as Wigan, Wimbledon and Oxford University FC - yet they're considered a big club. Why?

    Exactly.

In the Championship there were few bigger clubs than us. In the PL we're a very small club.

It is ******ed because everyone thinks its about history. It isn't. It's about the here and now. Right now we're the biggest club in Yorkshire but we're tiny compared to the rest of the PL. As Johnfirth said, if we get relegated then we might not be biggest in Yorkshire any more. It's dynamic.

The missed League game doesn't have to be played in August, since the season doesn't end until May they can play it anytime they want up to that point. They'll have plenty of time to fit it in though because they won't be in the League Cup until the 3rd Round when the other European representatives join it. If I were the fixture compilers I'd be trying to make Wigan vs Reading the fixture due to take place on the Charity Shield weekend. Reading having finished 2nd bottom in the PL should have a bye to the 2nd Round of the League Cup so they could easily move the league game to the Cup date to keep it all up to date, it would just give Reading a midweek game rather than a weekend one, so make it the game at Wigan so Reading don't lose the gate receipts from a bigger weekend crowd. There's no logical reason not to do that though, so that means it won't happen that way.
