Next Thursday is their cup final. Confidence will return somewhat but it was a fortunate deflection for 1-0... ah, who knows? We're Watford after all!
José Holebas has recovered from the knock he took last weekend, and Kiko Femenía has got over his bout of sickness and is fit. Craig Cathcart has been training with the team but will not be ready for Sunday. Tom Cleverley is only in light training at present, and no news about his return. Christian Kabasele, Gerard Deulofeu, Younès Kaboul, Nathaniel Chalobah, Tommie Hoban and Molla Wagué remain absent for the Hornets.
Sunday marks 40 years from the first WFC match I saw - a 1-0 home win against Aldershot with Bobby Downes scoring the winner. Another 1-0 win over a team beginning with A will be very welcome.
And Wednesday marks the 31st anniversary of the funniest game ever at Highbury! I suspect I am not the only Watford fan to be offered a ticket from a disgruntled Arsenal fan - unfortunately I can't go as the lesson I teach has been moved from 18 March to 11 March for all the parents who moaned about it being the day after St Patrick's Day On the bright side we win at the Emirates when I don't go so COYHs
it will be John Motson's last ever football commentary on Sunday He was a great admirer of Graham Taylor and Watford Lets give him a great send off
The weekend after GT's passing was really emotional. His interview on Five Live finished me off! How much would you like to have a beer with him?
Not long after I first qualified as a referee when I was a teenager, he came and spoke at the South West Herts referees association monthly meeting. None of us were officiating at any high level, so he kept the talk to some of his experiences at non-league grounds.
Watfordfc line-up : Karnezis (GK); Femenía, Prödl, Mariappa, Holebas; Doucouré, Capoue; Janmaat, Pereyra, Richarlison; Deeney (C). Subs | Bachmann (GK), Britos, Hughes, Carrillo, Sinclair, Gray, Okaka
Arsenal side is interesting. Might go either way for us with some of their players wanting to show what they can do or... dare I say it? they could be set up for a fall today. Arsenal so hard to call......
Arsenal: Cech, Maitland-Niles, Mustafi, Holding, Kolasinac, Elneny, Xhaka, Mkhitaryan, Ozil, Iwobi, Aubameyang. Substitutes: Wilshere, Ospina, Chambers, Welbeck, Nelson, Nketiah, Willock. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger makes six changes from the side that started the 2-0 win over AC Milan in the first leg of their Europa League last-16 tie on Thursday. Laurent Koscielny and Aaron Ramsey are not in the matchday squad at all, while David Ospina, Calum Chambers, Jack Wilshere and Danny Welbeck are on the bench. In come Petr Cech, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Rob Holding, Mohamed Elneny, Alex Iwobi and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
This one seems to be working at present. http://firstrows.xyz/soccer/xft-arsenal-vs-watford-fyz405d37?l=1515066929
Good afternoon all. Interesting game I hope with us improving and Arsenal a bit shaky. Couple of streams to try, one is sky the other from the usa. http://thesportek.com/p/mama.php?id=17805 http://thesportek.com/p/mama.php?id=17873 Enjoy the game. I was watching a bit of the rugby yesterday Eng/Fra and to be honest I didn't really understand what was going on. Why all the penalties, what happened to get them. Also if footballers carried on like that they would either be sent off if they did not get injured first. I also didn't get why a player deliberately ran into an opposing player. It was all quite entertaining though, exciting even.
