I get the disappointment, but City drew to WBA, Liverpool got smashed by Villa and drew with Fulham. These things happen. I could see where this game was going and sadly we had already taken the decision to make the two subs when we did. Right subs to make two minutes earlier, but those two players had the two things we needed after the sending off, direct running at defenders (Theo) and a bit of creativity (Stuey, although he was off it tonight), but I can’t blame Ralph fir that as the decision was made before the player was off.
Apparently we're not allowed to be disappointed cos we're quite high in the table. Maybe we shouldn't have been disappointed when we lost 9-0 as we were in the third division a decade before
I don't completely disagree tbh mate. As I say I always take it badly when it's at Arsenal or Everton. I mean, does anyone really believe that we'd win there even if Arsenal put out 11 drunk pensioners from Islington?
That is like saying with out "the one and only", Chesney Hawkes wouldn't of had a pop career, Oh wait....
Maybe for success this year it is City and Liverpool we need to beat. That maybe s bold statement. All teams drop silly points, Pool were fortunate to get a point Vs Fulham and City dropped last night against the Baggies. I think Saturday will tell us more about our level. I am cautiously optimistic
Ralph is happy with our conservative play. I have to say that we are guilty of being happy with narrow margins. If we play our intense game for 70mins we win this match, maybe we don't lose the ManU game. Maybe its not possible to play with the intensity week after week but very often I have seen us sit back and play cautiously and drop valuable points. Maybe we can get better at defending narrow margins, I don't know but its frustrating. Ralph managed the game well today, how good was it to see Cedric again - forgot he was a footballer until redmond made him look ****
Agree about the subs. We really needed Armstrong especially once they went down to ten. Annoyingly the break which brought the second yellow was a genuine goal scoring opportunity.
I did. That is why I said Arsenal were delighted with a draw. They were also compact defending which the did well but if Saints passing was a lot faster in the final third against 10 men we might have pulled one or two of them out of position creating space in the box for a pass. Too often it was a hopeful pass or shot which Arsenal cleared. Something to work on in training. Bigger picture though, we are third and we would have lost that game last season.
Completely agree. I'm certainly feeling a tinge of disappointment. Like I was disappointed that Cavani wasn't injured before he played us. Or disappointment at the defensive suicide against Spurs. But we'll get over it and the players will dust themselves down. We are going to be in the top 4 when we play City. We could be top 4 at Christmas! The fixtures up until the end of January are tough. Really tough. What we do over the next 6 weeks will give us a good idea of how well we'll do this season. I'm just going to enjoy the ride while it lasts.
I have calmed down a bit now, I wasnt pissed off as such , just thought we could of done so much more to win the game than we did considering we played against 10 men for over 30mins. That's what was frustrating, would of taken a draw before kick off.
Completely agree with your second point. I’m not negative about the performance, we did alright, but I’m just pissed off we haven’t won.
