I'm not allowing myself to hope....I just hope we play well and our fellow under-achievers do badly. Sad (and possibly crucial) that we ruined our GD in just 2 games...that could be worth a place.
Always having hope is what being a supporter is all about........ Way back to David and Goliath......... or Saints v ManU (76)
I fly out to Budapest this afternoon. Tomorrow I'll be looking for a TV. I know there'll be lots of United and Liverpool shirts around. Would love to be able to wear my Saints shirt with pride. Even if we lose 4-1 but play like want to compete I'll be OK, but another Newcastle or West Ham performance and I will be **** to live with for the rest of our hols. So come on, Saints. Give my missus and our friends a break!
Never thought I would ever say this, about the Saints, but I have well and truly entered the “Que sera sera, whatever will be, will be” stage of my life. Yes I still want them to win, or at least put in a decent performance, but when we do neither I’m just “meh” about it. My wife thinks I have been reprogrammed by aliens. For the better.
Yep, feeling similar to you, in fact it may be good to go down and consolidate with genuine professsionals, triers, younger players with sound aspirations, get the core supporters back on side and enjoy Saturday afternoons.
Agreed but should get 25K ish, more dramatic games and a better atmosphere. Not a lot of fun going to a full SM at the moment.
Atmosphere was generally much better with 20k odd in league one though. I'm almost certain match day atmosphere will improve if we go down.
Okay, some positive thoughts on relegation there (which I agree with) but can we not give up the fight just yet. We've been in far worse positions - it's just that we haven't got MLT to bail us out this time. But we do have Austin and Long who will never give up the fight. For all his critics (me included when it comes to theatricals) Tadic will never give up the fight either. Nor Davis. Nor JWP. Nor Romeu. So as fans, we shouldn't either. It's not over till the fat lady sings. Anything - including a decent committed performance - will be a bonus tomorrow and set us up for some tough games coming up.
Exactly....we enjoyed League 1 and the Championship because we did well. Saints fans weren't used to winning....glory days. Four or five years down there won't be so funny. Results were ok for us today....no one really pulled away....just need to win now. And preferably by several goals.
The chase and the idea of getting to the Premier League is actually much more enjoyable than being in it. Think it may reignite my enthusiasm for the team if we do go down. The PL is a pointless league to be in for clubs like us.
