Pick our strongest team and we lose....might as well try something different. Set up to defend and hope for a break.
I always felt today we needed five at the back to stop Arsenal finding gaps. Bit surprised at the Arsenal eleven! I see today as a free pass, so anything is a bonus
No Ozil, Wilshere or Ramsey is good news for us, should hopefully mean Aubameyang doesn’t get too much service. We will still lose by at least 2 but at least it won’t be 5
Holding for Bellerin - with Chambers moved across to RB - is about the thing further change we could have realistically hoped for. Given that they have some armoury on their bench, the slightly ironic thing is that the best time to attack them could be earlier in the game - when we're set up to defend and get some sort of foot hold in the game, unlike our last two matches that have been all over at HT.
The moment Arsenal drifted out of the top four race, the date of this game was always ideal for us. Subject to still being in the EL, Wenger was always going to rest players for this one. Even with a 4-1 lead to defend, today simply does not matter to them. We've got a weakened opposition. We've got an opposition with little to play for. We've got an opposition whose fans will have even less appetite for the game. From that side of things, we couldn't really ask for much more. Unfortunately, we've also got our players. That, I suspect, we still prove to be the defining issue.
I would have brought in Yoshida, Romeu, Long, Ward-Prowse & Pied so think that the selection is good!
Well at least Sparky's doing stuff, however it ends up we have'n't surrendered without trying something different.
I agree but as you rightly said with the 4-1 lead I wasn't expecting such drastic changes. Gives us some hope though, something we really need!
Happy to see the back 3 and a few players back in. Keep it tight as long as possible and see what happens. Up the ****ing Saints
I'd like to be optimistic but I keep getting this flash up before my eyes. please log in to view this image
All I can say is that Tadic must be like ****ing Messi in training, hope that he plays on the left today. Delighted about JWP though... Come on you Saints, show us a bit of passion and pride at least... Looking like Bertie is the LWB so JWP and Tadic both AM.
