**Technically, you do not die of old age, but always of something (that maybe age related) On topic, this forum is hilarious. We bicker when we lose, bicker when we draw away, maybe we will bicker if we ever win at home
Totally agree. I said this weeks ago. Who are we going to get in who would be an upgrade? No one. Ralph deserves the time (and the fixtures) to sort it out. And today just showed what a good manager he is.
With you on that one, Tom. It’s like saying because of this season Pochettino is a bad coach. Sadly so many people don’t see context.
Solid game. Signs of life which is hugely reassuring. No evidence that we’ve given up. Formation and selection worked very well. We were excellent with djenepo and Boufal on the field. We should have won by 3 or 4. Our time wasting killed us in the end ironically. Did Che Adams die?
If you genuinely think that the odd game where we "played well" or took it to the opposition yet still don't get three points is something to be happy about then fine crack on. I personally think players missing chances to go 3/4-1 and throwing it away in the 95th minute after our previous run of results is a sign we're in real trouble. (I don't think anyone would have been too downhearted if this had come off the back of a win against a poor Everton side, or not losing to Bournemouth at home, or not having the heaviest ever PL home defeat...) But as it is, it's not good enough to think that we played well so we'll hopefully carry it on to the next game against "lower" opposition because we won't. It's like when we narrowly lost to City, the same posters claiming if we played the same in the next game we'd beat Everton, and we know how that panned out. It's shades of the 04/05 season all over again, yet somehow Ralph has been designated some sort of demi god status on here where he can do no wrong and yet throwing away winning positions in the last 5 minutes are his hallmark. Do you honestly think we'll get anything other than a draw and a loss from the next 2 games?
Not saying it would either but let's face it, they aren't going to sack 11 players are they. Ralph does also need to shoulder some of the blame though. That said, they've responded great today, I cant wait for Saturday...
How do you know people dont see the context? Perhaps they lose patience. Also, just cos Poch was a good coach, doesn't mean its always wrong to change. Same with Ralph, sometimes stuff just doesn't work out at times. Maybe that's the case here maybe not, but its good to have different views on a forum.
Today reminded me of the days when we finished 8th and 6th. It's been ages since we had a top 6 team on the ropes and particularly on the road. This must be the first time in years that we seriously threatened to win at one of the big clubs. I'm not counting City away. As good as we were it just seemed a matter of time before they scored. I didn't feel that today. I think today will prove to be a turning point in our season. I can't make it to Watford game but please to those who go, really get behind the team, don't groan at every backwards pass, generate a positive atmosphere and be the 12th man. I admit the home performances have made that an impossible task but it's up to the fans to help make St Mary's a tough place to visit again.
Errrr, did you only start watching Saints this season? Throwing away winning positions has been our modus operandi since before Ralph came in. Something, something, rubbish defence. I've yet to see Ralph running onto the pitch and kicking the ball in our own net so you are overstating it as usual. We are entirely capable of winning the next two games. At the moment, there's no point in trying to predict it as who knows what side will turn up. We need confidence and consistency.
You are a perfect example of the problem at home. Fans are going to home games nervous and the atmosphere from second 1 is a nervous one. And then it gets hostile when we go behind. It doesn't help the players.
One thing I will say though, Arsenal were very shaky at the back and they appeared to have no-one in midfield, we had the run of the pitch. Also, that penalty we got was the softest of soft decisions you will ever see. 3 things. 3 things, I will say.
