Whilst I feel your pain, I think it might be you that’s mentally not up to it. I’ve been supporting this lot for 46 years - this, mostly, is what it’s like. But you have to keep believing that it can and will be better, because occasionally, for a little while, it does stop being ****. Only for a while though.
So Ralph is at fault for fielding a team that can’t concentrate and he’s **** because the players missed some good chances to win 3 or 4 to 1.... Ok then. See ya
Positives from today: 1. We played very well. 2. We outplayed a full strength Arsenal on their own turf 3. Ings scored again. 4. We created enough chances to score 5 or 6 goals. 5. Ralph set his team up very well. 6. We played positively, we went there to win. 7. Ralph knows what he's doing. 8. I got to Waterloo in time to catch the train I booked and so didn't need to fork out for a new ticket. The negatives: 1. We didn't win when we should have. 2. Not clinical enough. I'm not including we were poor defensively because we weren't for most of the match. So all in all, a good day out apart from one minute.
I went as a fan today and have to say I thought we played well, could see we had a game plan and executed it well. Looked much more resolute, good bravery and fight and we don’t look like a team that’s stopped playing for the manager either. Such a shame we couldn’t finish those chances late on, we really should have tucked at least one away. Hopefully once the dust settles the team can acknowledge the positives and carry it forward into the upcoming must-win games.
I thought we were a touch unlucky for the equaliser, with that touch being McCarthy’s fingertips that diverted the ball to the scorer. Miss the cross and the ball would have gone safe, I think. Same thing happened a few weeks back, with the same result. I have no complaints about the performance. We just didn’t get the rub at the right times.
If you let one minute colour over the other 95 and allow that single minute to form your perspective of the whole game (and the manager), then you are an arse. But yes. I think we had that one worked out.
So I was very critical of the line up but I managed to get a decent stream and we did play really well with a lot of spirit. The players are still trying for Ralph and there was some quality on show. It’s so devestating not to see it out but with the known defensive deficiencies we have they really played pretty well. Ralph has obviously been impressed with Obafemi in training and his raw pace was more than useful today. I like Armstrong in midfield and I’m much happier with McCarthy in goal. I still would have liked Djenepo to have had more of a go even though he was one who was guilty of a miss or two late on. Cedrics ineptitude to play a simple pass along the deck for what would have been an open goal tap in has me seething. We all would have taken a point beforehand. We are not down yet.
The key thing is to take this level of performance into the more winnable games. I have zero confidence that we will based on the 1000 other times this has happened
I'm looking at 9 points from the next 4 games. That's what we need really. 7 would be ok but beating Watford and Norwich would really ease the pressure.
And then from Villa? It's a run of five games really. 20th, 18th, 14th, 16th, 17th. Quite incredible, really.
