Constantly putting pressure on that Arsenal midfield and moving the ball quickly to start counters was how we won on possession for large parts of the game. I'm my opinion obviously, but I've got a PHD in box to box midfielding so my opinion outweighs any of yours by 4:1
He deserves never to be paid as a referee again if you ask me. On Sunday, Mike Jones was all round useless, and was incompetent. Tonight, Mariner was a totally bias 'homer'. Every 50/50 went Arsenal's way. He is useless.
I thought SD was a bit anonymous but that was probably because he was quietly doing a very efficient job of it.
We suffered four critical injuries, fouls on Cork and Tadic would have been yellowed by any other Referee, yet we get bookings for nothing challenges, although I suspect Toby may have deserved his by taking one for the team?
Our defence seems to be able to cope against these top 4 clubs, I just worry about our attack not be able to deliver whilst the 3 CM's play more defensive - they have been key in most of our goals. Although its a killer to wait for, having a game on Monday night might be a bit of a god send giving players more time recover. Fingers crossed Toby & Schneiderlin are fit, Cork would be a bonus.
Giroud changed the game when he came on. Not too disponand as we were really unlucky tonight. Injuries are a massive blow though. Vic was immense tonight. How wrong I was about him last season! Forester and Bertrand were exceptional as well. Long and Pelle were a nuisance. Honestly didnt know Flamini was playing until the eightieth minute!
Unlucky. Played well, injuries stuffed us a bit. Ref was a joke. Need far better players on the bench than mayuka, he is toss
This sums it up well. I thought that Arsenal were there for the taking for the first hour. Our side worked really hard. The difference was simply the substitutions: theirs added to their game whereas Mane and Mayuka didn't provide an outlet or threat. Mane and Mayuka did not provide outlets or make runs nor keep the ball when our defence needed respite.
You know Koeman's thinking "**** it!" when Mayuka comes on Koeman's normally careful with his substitutions, if only he'd waited a few minutes longer...
If we have to get the youngsters in, McQueen and Seager have been finding the net quite frequently, nowhere near the finished article, but sometimes the solutions can come from within.
Forster had a blinder. He keeps it up and he'll be England's #1 soon. Good game, as expected Southampton made it very difficult but the Giroud substitution and injury to your lad helped sway it in our favor. Good luck for the rest of the season
Arsenal were the best team on the pitch, for ten minutes after we had gone down to ten against twelve, not Arsenals fault the Referee was a homer.
A real shame . If we lose to Man u , which I think we will , I just hope we appreciate what we have achieved so far and don't panic .
Just got in from the game and disappointed we didn't get anything. I think Arsenal edged it, particularly second half. Fraser was MOM which says a lot. We did well and prevented Arsenal doing much for most of first half, despite yet another shocking referring display. They are getting beyond a joke now. No disgrace, third in the league but as we seem to be picking up injuries, I think Les may need a rethink about the January window. Right, now I'll read what you lot thought.
