To be fair, you looked overawed in the 1st half, gave us way too much respect. If you played like you did in the 2nd, it would have been a far tighter game. Ramirez definitely needs to start for you against Villa, he looked an excellent signing, and along with Ward-prowse's good passing range, gave our defence a few issues.
I'd swap the CBs around, Yoshida plays either side and Fonte only really plays on the right. Other than that, that's a decent side on paper.
Didn't expect a loss as bad as that, but am sticking to my word and not panicking yet. We all knew that we could end up with only 0-3 points after 4 games. The new players aren't fully integrated yet...let's see where we are after a few more games.
Bring back Leon Crouch, Wilde and his Cronies and give him the security code to the bank of SFC again..........I think he is the bestest chairman ever because he knows how to spend money. Alternatively give the code to Rupert Lowe so he can leave it there and make some interest out of it. Moral? We have the most balanced person at the helm now and he is doing the compromise between bancruptcy and prudence and I like it.
I think a couple of changes should improve us. The only problem with not starting Davis in midfield is we need a vocal outfield player.
Ouch, that hurts! After United I was expecting the midfield to give Cazorla and co a harder time. I feel for the defence when they were walking the ball through midfield at will. They'll naturally get a lot of abuse for goals that weren't their fault and I don't think it's fair. The stream I was watching in the first half was buffering a lot, so I closed it at half time and didn't see Ramirez, but he sounded good on the radio. This loss emphasises the need to win the ball high up the pitch and keep it.
I'm shocked at what's happened to Hooiveld, obviously he hasn't been that bad it's just that he's a completely different player from last season. 2 penalties given, an own goal and struggles in the tackle and with pace. He's decent in the air but at 6 foot 4 what do you expect?! For me, the partnership never was that great-in League One we had an experienced defender in Jaidi who wasn't the best of players but he had a huge amount of experience. Fonte obviously had the quality, and under Jaidi's guidance he was playing the best football that he could with his help from Jaidi and this helped them work as a duo. Jaidi stayed back so he wouldn't get done for pace and Fonte went to track them down, both Fonte and Hooiveld do the latter at times since they've been together and end up out of position and letting players in at goal. Neither Fonte or Hooiveld have experience in the top flight and they both look out of sorts, it looks like we're going to test out Fonte and Yoshida, Yoshida doesn't have top flight experience either and I feel like it would have been wise to buy Dann and partner him with Fonte, a similar player to Jaidi.
Ward Prowse is very vocal. You could hear him shouting all through the match i.e. TIME.....MAN ON.........PASS TO ME. He is going to be a legend.
Yeah it just didn't happen today, but the good news is that we've got some games coming up against teams who aren't in the Champions League. So I'm sure Morgan, Davis etc will find their Utd form again and start controlling some games. PS Cork back soon. Big boost.
No thanks , But he was here and he LOVES this club . It was him that pleaded with RL to keep NP , but no , it was never going to happen . LC's time at this club in a Chairman's position is long gone , but he played his ( massive IMHO ) part in trying to keep this club alive . As for wilde etc **** em . Far Far to many short memories on here ..............
Just travelling back with Gooner brother in law! Bad day. Midfield couldn't cope with Arsenal's quality. Full backs were over loaded and defence were exposed often. Rickie didn't win may balls, but let's not panic yet. The whole side were outclassed by a very good team. On a positive, Ramirez looks good and JWP is going to be some player. Bring on villa.
I don't have a clue what went on in the game apart from the goals as I was watching the CB40 final but I think it's pretty obvious what happened. So glad I couldn't get a ticket for the game now!
Pretty much this, althogh: -----------------Davis Clyne-----Fonte-----Yoshida-----Fox ---------Morgan-----JWP ---------------Ramirez Mayuka-----------------------Lallana --------------- Lambert We really need to go for this. Get bodies forward to support Lambert and play the game in their half.
I retired from work yesterday, celebrated on the Real Ale train on the Mid Hants Railway, I had already written this game off and was not surprised at the outcome, Season starts this week against Villa, be there and enjoy it. Loved the Cricket result, loved the Skate result, not all bad eh?
Watching MOTD, Hooiveld should have done better for the OG No chance with the Podolski free-kick (brilliant) Very slow for the 3rd goal -no defence there whatsoever Clyne was very unlucky with his own goal Well taken by Fox, but too little too late Davis wasn't good enough for their 5th Well taken by Walcott It looked pretty shambolic to be perfectly honest
