Fair play to Oxo and Theo coming over to the Saints fans and applauding at the end of the game. Not a great result and not a great performance (defensively for sure) but there are some positives; JWP, the new signings all looked useful and for half hour or so at the start of the second half we played pretty well and looked the better side. Cannot wait for the Villa came to see Yoshida and Ramirez get there home debuts! Lets not get too high when we win and not too low when we loose, blue line under it and move on everyone
I can't remember any team having a start quite as difficult as we have. At the beggining of the season I thought we'd get one point from the first six. I thought the point would be Wigan. It's been said before but we don't look ready. I'm not going to say sack Adkins, I'm just saying we can't expect anything at all from the games V Arsenal/City/United/Chelsea/Spurs. We are a poor team and if we stay up it's a fantastic season, if we go down it's what is expected. Don't expect to be matching teams like this because we can't and won't until we are settled. If we stay up, then next season we may well have a bloody good team.
I think that is a fair point, but give them a chance, after 10 games if we are in the same situation I may agree. I know we have to start well but when you bring in a lot of new players you need time for them to bed in. I think after the Aston Villa game we will have a better idea. In recent years it is the teams that do not score that have been relegated and I think our team has goals, we just need to chose the right formation to achieve this; Ramirez also looked good. I know it is frustrating that we have lost four on the trot, however I think we have had an exceptional two years and it was never going to be like that this year, if fans want a win every week they may as well go and support Man U.
At least in Ramirez we have someone who will take on players and isn't afraid to shoot from long range. We can't mess about with our players afraid of taking responsibility and just passing sideways when we should be moving the ball forward, having efforts on goal and getting the ball up the field quickly. We're not Barcelona, we can't open up Premier League defences, our best chances are crossing balls in to Lambert or just having long range shots from distance, Lallana used to score some worldies and I'm sure Ramirez can too. Normally when we counter attack, we have Lambert getting the ball and having to wait for others to move up the pitch and by the time they are there, the opposition are back into position. Ramirez has pace and will be useful on counter attacks and that's one of not many positives I can take from this game. I feel a resemblance between us and Blackpool.
Gotta be positive about it. Davis Clyne, Yoshida, Fonte, Fox Puncheon, Ward-Prowse, Schneiderlin, Lallana Ramirez Lambert
