I wondered about this. You know there's always been these gambling debt rumours? I wonder if it's a slightly different story. I never understood why you'd "force" a useless berk like Pardew to be your manager, the guy would jump at the chance any day of the week. So I wonder if it's the other way around, whether someone somewhere owes Pardew something and in return he's said "ok, Mike, I'm calling in the chit - you're going to make me manager of Newcastle".

The "secret footballer" reckons that Alan Pardew deliberately attempted to get close to Ashley via his Casino's, spent some cash, gradually weaseled his way in spreading comments about his abilities, what he'd change when Hughton was there, until Ashley then trusted him and gave him a job.

This is all horse **** in my opinion. Its pretty simple to me - Pardew was long out of work, desperate, and with something to prove. Ashley could get a motivated employee, pay him buttons and not have to fork out compo. He continues to be very cheap in PL manager terms and sticks with the script regarding Ashley's "plans" for progress. Mike sees no reason to sack him as he has a profitable business helping get him out of the hole he got himself into with a rash decision buying the club and saddling himself with debt.

I know for a fact that Pardew owes Ashley money and that this debt was a result of Pardew gambling at a casino.

Not one to ever claim to be "in the know" when it comes to the club as I have no source/link to anyone inside the club (not surprising given the fact I live a good few hundred miles away) but my sister in-law's brother works for the law firm that drew up the contract of repayment.

Steady now. We'd been putting off scoring a goal for a while until last game. One step at a time. Maybe get a clean sheet or 2 goals?!

Arsenal will tear our throats out tonight. With any luck Pardew might attempt a row with Wenger and hopefully Bould will hand his arse to him. Pards gets sacked tomorrow. Everyone is happy.

I just looked on Betfair for the 'Any Other Score', which means that one side at least bangs in four or more. The odds are a depressing 3.6 at the moment.

The only way that I will judge tonight to be a success is if Pardew is carried off on a stretcher.

But how does it mean he gets to stay employed? It doesn't make a lot of sense.

You don't want to know what Mike makes him do to repay that debt. Being his actual boss makes it easier when they are role-playing.

    I'm expecting a massive *Panda-bumming tonight.

*Just like a Panda, we're so lethargic and uninterested that someone could literally and repeatedly have anal sex with our first 11 without raising so much as a twitch.

I was right to take 90/1 on 6-0. Its come in to 45/1 now. Pards has obviously put a wedge on to send the odds tumbling <laugh>

Don't know mate. Just know that the rumours about Pardew owing Ashley money aren't rumours, they're true.

Without going in to detail, yes. It's my sister in laws brother. It's not like it's come via a long chain of sources (hate that word).

His law firm drew up the contract regarding the repayment of the amount that is owed by Pardew. He has no reason to lie to me, he isn't the sort to brag or spout bullshit.

I suppose he could be working off his debt? Allows Mike more control of the first team, media-engagements etc to have a manager firmly in your back-pocket. That could explain the longevity of his reign I suppose. Depends how much was owed.

Considering anyone in their right minds would baulk at working with Ashley, he'd probably been told he'd be given lead shoes and thrown in the Tyne if he didn't agree to become our manager <laugh>

I reckon its going to be like an episode of WWF where Ben Arfa comes out in a Arsenal Shirt 2 stone lighter showing his true aligience to the original French legion hit Pardew with a chair, run on the pitch mug off the whole team with Ronaldhino'esque skills nutmegging Krul for the winner.

And this sister-in-law's brother actually drew it up or just someone's told him? Who told him? Did that person actually draw up the contract? I've never really believed this gambling debt rumour. I mean how much is this debt meant to be? And why would having a debt to Ashley mean that Ashley would employ him? Pardew must be on the thick end of £1m/year I'm guessing and has been here 4 years is it? Must have been able to pay back a lot in that time so is it still supposed to be outstanding or is it paid off? Doesn't add up to me at all. IMO Pardew was made manager because Ashley likes to employ people he knows, and he only knew/knows 3 people in football and they have all worked here under him. Add to that the fact that Pardew was out of work and no compensation was required and bingo, Pardew was his man.
