Going to be sad when that front 3 is finally broken up for good. they’ve been transformative to this team over the last 5 years and helped take us to the next level. Each have had moments where they’ve been the most important player too but for period of couple years, was arguably best front 3 in world football. We’ll move on and hopefully we’ll find 3 more than can replace them (Jota and diaz made great starts) but can they replace the relationships with the fans? Hopefully so
I couldn’t care less about Martinelli Jota and Diaz are not going to score the amount of goals that Mane and Salah have, so the question has to be which striker can they find in world football who is capable of doing that?
You dont need to find one if you're klopp, you just adjust and adapt. Or just make another one (lewandowski, Salah) Its when he goes we need to worry. I just hope he lays good foundations and doesn't leave us dead in th water with no after plan like Fergie left utd
I don't think he's 100% coordinated with the other players yet either... I think the "old three" have a perfect understanding of each other and how they'll run etc... Salah has that with TAA too. I think Diaz doesn't read the team perfectly yet, but it will come and then he will be another level.
Diaz hasn't even been here 2 months yet. Klopp normally holds back new signings until they have settled and up to speed with the system. It's credit to Diaz he has hit the ground running
Thought you were the better side tbh but we've been in that position many times and we're so good at soaking up that pressure capitalising later on. You've got some very good young players, Martinelli is going to be awesome.
Agreed. He’s looked good individually but he hasn’t shone as part of the team yet, and that’s not a massive criticism either. It just shows why generally players brought by klopp don’t go right into first team bar Ali and Vvd. Jota was eased in, Robbo and fab are the big 2 examples where took a while to adapt. Plus the plan was to get him in the summer and give him pre season to train and friendlies to learn, he’s having to try learn on the job. Think any performance in the next 3 months is a bonus and we’ll start seeing a much better diaz next year.
The movement of Liverpool's attacking players is exceptional to be honest. So much so that Chelsea's midfield has dominated them in all three meetings but LFC haven't lost any because they've been able to split the defenders apart with superior movement. City v LFC should be fascinated, might be the best league game we've seen since Covid happened.
The title is becoming interesting again one point separating the top two. It will certainly go to the wire.
And the funny thing is, it wasn't that long ago that most people on this very forum were saying we had no chance at catching City. Obviously City still have that one point advantage and still most people's favourites but I think anyone would have to be foolish to still say we have "no chance".
Ive got the list somewhere If its any consolation that's a much improved arsenal side than we met previously. Id say the future is bright for you, young sqaud with some very good players and it looks like it's finally clicked for them under Arteta. You played well last night we just had that bit more quality and experience. You lot are nailed on for a top 4 finish imo good luck for that & Thanks for the 3pts we really need em
It really was a game of two halves last night. I was worried after the first half. Arse were controlling midfield to the extent that our front three were hardly mentioned. Second half with those subs was a different story. Trust Klopp to take Jota off straight after he'd scored and look what happens - we get a second
I wasn't so impressed with Arsenal as most seem to be as while they played some neat and tidy football it was all a bit "powder puff" with their only real chances being courtesy of Thiago with , another , horrendous back pass .
When we were 14 behind City a friend who supports a Championship side asked me if I thought we could catch them. I said it was a tough task, but I never completely give up until it's mathematically over. City look like they've been feeling the pressure for the last few games, and this is one advantage I feel we have over them - I believe we're mentally stronger. They're unstoppable when things are going well, but tend to be shaky under adversity. When we opened up a gap 2 years ago they basically gave up.
