Arsenal are not going to sit back. It's going to an open game from one end to another.Alexandre Lacazette is the man to watch out for.
I would say ozil(playing for a move to utd?) And sanchez myself. That's the supply. Cut that off and be OK hopefully. Giroud is a player who feeds off their supply as well.
IMO its all about central midfield. If they leave 2 players to do the work and we flood the area they can be quite outmanned and we can dominate. Its about the ozils etc dropping back in and equalising numbers
I can't see wenger being so naive. The midfield is where the battle is going to be fought and won. Leaving only 2 there will mean that they'll have very little possession and be under pressure the whole game. Lacazette vs lovren will be a key battle too
TBH he's done it in the past. Its really down to the formation and tactics and i've seen us absolutely destroy xhaka and whoever is in there as they are left o nthier own. IMO they need to be strongly 433 not 4231 here. Whoever is in that midfield needs to dig in cos IMO we will pile everyone bar salah into the midfield area and salah will be looking to run in behind. Coutinho, henderson, wijnaludm, firmino and even mane will all be in the central midfield area... pressing and pressing. If arsenal play 343.. as they have been doing then we will simply run that wide channels and really pile on that mdifield trying to make it a 523 formation for arsenal.. From what i have seen do far this year 3 man defenses are absolute dream for mane and salah to get at.
MNF Extra: Liverpool’s tactical shift after losing to Tottenham was vital please log in to view this image Jurgen Klopp improved Liverpool's defence by repositioning of the full-backs Liverpool’s defeat to Tottenham in October sparked a defensive shift that has had a dramatic effect on their season. With the help of Jamie Carragher, we explore the changes that were made and the statistics that show just how effective they have been. "Tottenham was the worst game we played this season," said Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp in October. "You cannot ignore it, you have to work on it." He was speaking after seeing his side bounce back with a 3-0 win over Huddersfield at Anfield. Klopp had named the same defence. But do not mistake that for inaction. Liverpool made four errors leading to shots in that 4-1 defeat to Spurs at Wembley. That is twice as many mistakes leading to shots as they have made in the nine games since then. The transformation was instant. Against Huddersfield, Klopp's men not only did not concede a goal but they did not even allow their opponents a shot on target. So what changed? please log in to view this image http://www.skysports.com/football/n...cal-shift-after-losing-to-tottenham-was-vital
"Since the Tottenham game, there has definitely been a change," Jamie Carragher told Sky Sports. "The next game was Huddersfield and you are thinking that is a game that you just go and win. Liverpool won 3-0 but it was evident right from the start of the game that the positions of the full-backs were different and it stayed like that." Alberto Moreno is a left-back whose greatest asset is his energy in getting forwards. One would expect his average position in a three-goal win over Huddersfield to have been far higher up the pitch than in a three-goal away defeat to Tottenham, but Moreno was actually deeper. "You are not seeing the full-backs playing as wingers," Carragher pointed out. please log in to view this image In dominating Huddersfield, Alberto Moreno (18) took a deeper starting position The impact of a more solid defensive line has been dramatic. After conceding 16 goals in their first nine games, Liverpool have let in only four in the last nine games - a better record than both of the Manchester clubs in that time. It is not luck either because they have only faced 12 shots on target in those matches compared to 38 in the nine games prior to that. "I don't know if it's something just to get the confidence back or if it's here to stay but it certainly hasn't stopped them in terms of scoring goals so I think that's the right way forward," added Carragher. That is a crucial point. Liverpool have actually scored more goals in the last nine games than they did in the first nine. please log in to view this image The Reds have won all four of their away games since going to Wembley. They put four past West Ham, won 3-0 at Stoke and have since beaten both Brighton and Bournemouth by four clear goals. Moreno's injury against Spartak Moscow has allowed Andrew Robertson his opportunity but the lesson of this change is that personnel is not the primary issue. Dejan Lovren has faced criticism and Ragnar Klavan's limitations are apparent. But recent form suggests their weaknesses can often be masked if the positions of those around them are adjusted. The added cover might explain why errors have rarely led directly to shots on goal since the change. "We are critical of Liverpool's centre-backs and I get asked that question a lot because of the position that I played," said Carragher. "But I always think how difficult it would be to play for Jurgen Klopp at centre-back. I don't think there's a top-class holding midfielder and if your full-backs are leaving you isolated as well then it's not easy. So there has definitely been a change there and that has helped them not only results-wise but also defensively." The trip to Arsenal for Friday Night Football will be Liverpool's toughest test away from Anfield since losing to Tottenham. But the hope is that they return to north London two months to the day after that defeat with a defensive setup that can give them a far better platform to get a positive result this time around. ...................................................... the graphic cna be misleading in average positions as they assume all opponents set up the same way. The point above is morenos starting place was half way line and go forward v spurs. leaving lovren exposed to kane and he was at panic level defcon 23. v huddersfield he could stand on half way as the CB was in line with him as hudderfield sat deep. the other point to make is joe gomez sits quite deep AND klopp is pushing one CM further up to have a 4 man press up top. this sacrifices a little in the press zones klopp likes (wide zones) but the defensive situation more than makes up for it. Does holding full back more in line with CBs as a starting position explain everything? no i don't think so. The opposition quality has not been high either. Arsenal game will be very interesting.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp wants Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain involved in more goals please log in to view this image Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been a substitute in in 10 of the 15 Premier League games in which he has featured at Liverpool Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp wants Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to be involved in more goals, saying there is "a lot of space for improvement". Oxlade-Chamberlain, 24, has scored twice in 20 appearances in all competitions since arriving from Arsenal in August for £35m. "The biggest potential he has is to being involved in goalscoring situations more," Klopp said. "He has it in himself, but he was not asked too much of this in the past." Oxlade-Chamberlain, who has also provided two assists for Liverpool, struck 20 goals in 198 appearances over seven seasons at Arsenal. In 15 league games for his new club, he has only completed a full 90 minutes once, in Sunday's 4-0 win at Bournemouth. But Klopp said: "He is really fit and looks in really good shape. It is good, but I see a lot of space for improvement. He is a good lad; I'm really happy to have him around. "If you are a big signing, everyone expects you on the pitch immediately and you have to perform immediately, but it is difficult. "I was happy with him from the first day about his involvement and attitude - and since then he has become more and more a Liverpool player." Defender Joel Matip has returned to training, having not played since 29 November because of a thigh injury, but will not feature when his side travel to fifth-placed Arsenal on Friday. Klopp's side, fourth in the Premier League, have become better defensively of late, keeping seven clean sheets in a 12-match unbeaten run since losing 4-1 at Tottenham on 22 October. "We knew we could do better," added Klopp. "We are a team who are very offensive-orientated but that does not mean we have to give any space away. So there are always things to work on." http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/42430684
So we are better defensively because we are not attacking with 8 players leaving the two CB's to pick up the pieces! Or is it because we are asking our other two defenders to actually defend sometimes? Either way
Arsenal analysis: Arsene Wenger needs to shape up for attacking Liverpool https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/fo...hape-up-for-attacking-liverpool-a3724176.html
talking about how good.our defense is as a manager before an away game to arsenal. what could.possibly go wrong?
How many players are Arsenal going to man mark tomorrow?. Coutinho, Salah or Mane?. I know Mane celebration at the Emirates last year is still hurting them.
