Liverpool's attack is too much for Arsenal's defence in my opinion. Midfield is pretty even, but our attack against your defence is a no contest. I even predict Stewart Downing may well get his first goal for the club if he does another one of those mazy runs he did against Sunderland.

I find that sentiment rather daft. Vermaelen, Koscielny, Sagna and Szczesny are all very good.

If they ban him they must also ban Barton. Which I think they're reluctant to do for some reason.

    They should, but they won't.

I said it was not a good side because, in compariosn with the side that we played last season it isn't. I'm basing my opinion on what i saw in the performances against Newcastle and Udinese. Neither of those sides carries the kind of threat that that liverpool will provide.

If you take the Arsenal front 3 that you provide then Arshavin is a shadow of his former self and Walcott can be controlled by our 2 FBs. That leaves RvP. Well, he hasn't shone so far and without the gile of Fabregas and Nasri to provide the amunition a lot of his threat is taken away. Now, Newcastle do not have what you could call a lethal attack but they gave the Arsenal defence more than they could handle at times. Therefore I can see Liverpool commanding the midfield and pushing Arsenal back. The question then is can we turn our opportunities into goals? - with Suarez there I believe that we can.

Vermaelen and Sagna are very good, sure.

Koscielny is decent, good against tricky players but seems prone to error and is not physically strong enough for Carroll (surely).

Szczesny is, again, decent, with a lot of potential. He's definitely better than either of your other senior goalkeepers, but that's not saying much really. However, he's far from being in the top bracket yet.

1 or 2 points out of 6 is not a good start for either team. It's a tough game to call despite Arsenals bans/injuries etc. I'm not even going to try and predict the score, it is unusual for me to feel this nervous about a game this early on.

Lasy year Arsenal did not "cancel out the players who supply our attack". At the Emirates we employed exactly the same tactics that we did against Chelsea away. Now that was mostly defines by our poor form under Voy and our injuries. This year we believe that we will set you a very different problem from both midfield and in attack. If we do boss the midfield then your back 4 could be in for as torrid a time as Fulham's did on our last visit to London.

That's an extremely simplistic viewpoint and it also reminds me of what I consider to be one of Arsenal's main weaknesses - you all go on about creativity too much!

Just kick the bloody ball into the net and score a goal! Your tippy-tappy football will be your downfall (again)

Reina is 10x better than Szczesny. Amazes me how much Arsenal fans rate Szczesny!!

Arsenal may have a weakened team with several players missing, but I think people forget how good the youngsters do when filling in for them in the carling cup and being at home for them will only make it more in their favour. It is a tougher match than most of you suggest and if Kenny doesn't pick the right team again, we may struggle for nothing better than a point.

I understand Arsenal fans and their support for their side. At the begining of last season we all knew that our club was in serious trouble. We soon found out that the 'safe pair of hands' was anything but. Finally we were seeing our star duo injured or disinterested. Things could not have been bleaker I can assure you. that is the way that Arsenal fans must be feeling in the present circumstances. So fair play to them in making a stout defence of their side.

I'm sorry but Szczesny isn't even fit enough to lace Pep's boots.

naturally I agree with you. The point I was trying to make is that you can't blame Arsenal fans for looking for any ray of comfort that they can at present.
