i don’t think he’s brilliant in many more ways personally. He’s a talented young shot stopper but all round he’s one of the weaker keepers in the PL, made a lot of mistakes this season and his distribution sucks. Makes a few showy saves and everyone w*nks over him. But apparently the top clubs in the PL see it differently to me and they should know. Seriously, I like him, but think he’s over-rated by Leeds fans in general and gets a free pass for things previous keepers have been slated for… we’ve needed a safe pair of hands this season and I don’t think he has been.
Well on average, a goalie should save a penalty approx. once every 10 games. The % average is 12%, this is just purely saves, not where the taker actually misses the target. Meslier currently has a penalty saved % of 13.6%, on the figures you provided Emu (sorry not going through every game he has played to confirm whether he saved them all or if some were missed, even I'm not that bored of life ), so he is probably performing as you would expect any random Premier League Goalkeeper to perform when it comes to penalty saves. https://www.premierleague.com/news/648792 All the figures below are as at the end of the 20/21 season Jordan Pickford Penalty Record: Saved 4 from 23 England’s number one Pickford has saved an impressive 17% of the penalties he has faced for Sunderland and Everton in the Premier League, well above the average save rate of 12%. Ederson Penalty Record: Saved 3 from 18 Brazilian Ederson has a similar record to Jordan Pickford, having saved 3 of the 18 spot kicks (16.6%) he has faced while playing for Manchester City in the EPL. Hugo Lloris Penalty Record: Saved 5 from 40 World Cup winner with France and Spurs’ first-choice keeper Lloris has a record of having saved 5 of the 40 penalties he has faced during his EPL career. Alisson Penalty Record: Saved 1 from 11 Although five players have failed to score when facing Liverpool stopper Alisson from 12 yards in the EPL, he has actually only saved one of these attempts, Jorghino of Chelsea being the player whose effort was saved.
Plus there is an easy solution if the goalie isn't the best at saving penalties, stop putting ourselves in positions where we give away penalties
