I've been fitting a kitchen all day today so I could only catch the game on BBC 5 Live updates (they had the chav game on) Can't be arsed to read through this thread but it sounds like people have been whinging again, so **** off with that **** will you because I want to talk about the game. Waiting to watch the highlights later on MOTD but it sounds like Sanchez was an absolute beast today. How did he play ? Was he running the show again ? I heard Wenger's post match interview likening him to Suarez which has been mentioned on here (Wenger obvs reads not606 ) Also good to see Chambers score, he's been firing in a few rifles and clearly has a decent shot on him, great for him to get his first goal for us. So beginning of November, a stuttering start to the season, but we look like we're starting to find some rhythm and already level on points with Man City, so far so good I'd say .....
I know what you mean Piskie, such a shame that the board has descended into a slanging match and talking more about peoples entrenched opinions rather than the game, and how well we played and the fact we scored 3 goals. (and I'm not directing that at anyone or having a go at an individual!). I missed the game as well unfortunately, but just seen the highlights on MOTD, seemed like we created plenty of chances and attacked with pace, with the front players switching a lot. Podolski was unlucky not to score a brace (or lucky not to be done for assault with a deadly weapon/football!), though from the very brief highlights I didn't see Welbeck involved in much. Is this view accurate? Nice to see we created 32 chances, even against the bottom club, we usually have trouble breaking down sides who hang on for a draw.
Saw the highlights. Looked a good game - lots of chances created, lack of clinical finishing for a long while. What changed tactically later on? Did it make a difference? Great to see Theo back Did they look more like a team today?
Watched the game live on a stream and yes we were patchy in first half as they tended to park the bus. But Sanchez first goal was all about detirmination as he out jumped much taller defender. Podolski could have had a couple, Santi had great chance well blocked. Welbeck played okay and if you want to see how much he likes playing for us search for the clip showing him getting surrounded by 3 players in our half and then getting away despite him being fouled twice, he then drives forward with the ball into their box. We have lost 1 out of 10 games and haven't played well yet. Let's get squad fit and maybe DM signed in January and then perhaps challenge for title
Get squad fit... Sign a DM... Challenge for title... Three things we've needed for years and you want all three at once?!?! Greedy boy
It's hard to tell from the highlights but it looked like Welbeck had a fairly decent game, he was involved in some good attacking play, particularly that run through the Burnley defence from midfield after battling to win the ball after being fouled. Ultimately he'll be judged on the number of goals he scores, but so far I like what I've seen from Welbeck, he adds speed and impetus to our attack and he's always looking to get into a position to score. I thought our attacking play looked really good today, people might say 'it was only Burnley' but that shouldn't detract from the quality of our play. As you mention 32 chances created against a team who set up to defend and Sanchez looking like the signing of the summer for the premier league, he is an absolute gem for this team and once we get Walcott, Ozil, Ramsey and Wilshere properly fit with the option of Welbeck and Giroud up front, then I think this team will really push on.
TBH I'd forgotten to consider Welbecks run - so perhaps I was being a bit unfair on old Welbz. I still feel it's a good win, even though I didn't see the game. And a nice for chance for Walcott to stretch his legs. Hopefully more of the same against Anderlecht and less of our performance in the 1st game against Anderlecht!
