Party time, Wengerites : ITV Sport have just said the Juventus loss means the PL keeps the 4th CL slot for the next 2 seasons !!!
You've just pissed on CFC's chips. Alongside FFP this is his favourite subject. He devotes hours to researching them (although he was going take a well earned sabbatical next season).
Sorry, lads. I was at a family birthday party, but followed the latest AFC debacle on the iPhone. What can I say? The Holy Trinity "owned" Arsenal in the best way possible. This is as humiliating a defeat as any that AFC has suffered in Europe. I predicted it and it happened. That is a double-whammy for Pixie (who predicted that Arsenal would win by 3 clear goals). Yet, I am the bigger man. I am not going to scoff. These are hard times for Arsenal and the Gooners. All of us need to take the time to reflect. Yes, I do feel soiled, as every Englishman will do after that diabolical performance, but we have to hope that Arsenal will finish outside the top 4, so that they never get the chance to embarrass us again. When Pixie does show up - I notice he's gone missing, again - tell him I will not wum.
Good chance of that happening really. I'd like to think that a line of Prem teams that included; Leicester Spurs West Ham would at least have a go and be entertaining, instead of just making up the numbers that poor Arsenal do year in year out.
... all joking (and rivalries) aside ... the only time you want to be playing Barca is in the final itself ... one-off game where, hopefully, they get to feel a bit of pressure too... they are an amazing side .. not just the front 3 but to a man ... that 'rabona' trapping of the ball by Neymar was just brilliant ... there is part of me that is questioning whether this lad is actually better than Messi? .. indeed, he may well be the most skillful footballer on the planet after Riyad Mahrez ...
Impossible to say until you've seen them play against each other. Now I'm not expert on Ranieri's style of play so I can't claim to know or predict how they'll do in Europe. But its a whole n'other level to the Premier League (which has been extremely low key this season anyway). If you want my opinion, they will have to improve defensively if they're going to make a go of it in Europe. It is just an opinion though.
Arsenal played that way both home and away and only got a sniff because Barca got bored after half time in the second leg.
They've conceded one more goal than Arsenal in the PL having played a game more! However, you are right in that the CL is a whole other level to the PL.
Well comparing our defensive efforts to anything isn't really going to say much I see your point though. Anyways, if they win the league they'll be seeded in the same pot as the other major teams and so should have an easier draw.
Playing Barca's game will only result in a loss. They have the best three players in world football. To beat them, you need to look at A.Madrid's approach; park the bus, contain them and counter. Arsenal can't park the bus, they don't have the players to do it. Leicester have a solid defensive setup with two quality players in Vardy and Mahrez that offer the perfect counter attacking option.
True. they'd wouldn't be able to face Barca until the knockout stages. Maybe they'll meet in the quarters
It extends it for 1 more season. We were always going to have 4 next season, as it's settled at the beginning of the season how many places you are playing for.
