It could be Atalanta (the Lithuanian one) for all I care, or Sligo Rovers. Get yourself on a plane and support the lads. If/when we get to the Europa, I'll DEFINITELY be saving some cash up for it.
Ahem. Your post after the Cup semi final "I didn't go yesterday - because quite simply I couldn't afford to go. Does that make me a plastic? I'm as happy as anyone that we won and watched the full game on the tele!"
Man Utd won't be competing in Europe next year anyway. So **** 'em. People will only care about Europa League to see someone big. Failing that to get to travel somewhere near to the UK- Netherlands, Scandinavia, Belgium etc. If we get the Moldovan Transport Police XI no ****er will care.
Priorities: 1) No relegation 2) Win the FA Cup 3) Europe 4) Finish 9th in the P.L. Amazingly, all are still possible. (1) and (3) are close to being guaranteed after The Arse's win tonight. (2) is a one-off game...anything can happen. We'll be relaxed (after beating Villa & Man U.) Arsenal will have all the pressure with the expectations laid on them. (4) Look at the remaining fxtures...a good chance for 10th., 9th maybe. Enjoy the possibilities. My flights are almost booked. HULL City in Europe. Amazing. You would have got put in a nut house for saying that not so long ago. I'd go to the home games.
Like no-one cared to go the Bejing for a mickey mouse invitation trophy? Like no-one cared to go to Portugal for a pre season friendly? Don't talk like an idiot.
It beggars belief almost for us older fans, I certainly won't be sneering at whatever teams we draw. I think some fans are getting arrogant and spoilt by not celebrating this fantastic achievement if we make it.
To be honest, I've been completely skint recently (out of work). I do wish desperately that I could have gone, but the funds just weren't there. But just got myself a new job in the last few weeks, so hopefully can save up and go and watch the Tigers spread their... claws? Unfortunately I've had to take a step back from City matches since Xmas and have only been to a handful; but trust me with a bit more money, I'll be back at the KC.
Don't explain yourself pal, that guy is just another finding his own stupid way to look down on somebody. Good luck getting work.
Cheers pal, appreciate that! Luckily just got myself a job so may be a making a quick trip to Old Trafford and Everton at home! Last game was Southampton at home - bloody hell it's been too long!
I remember getting soaked in pissing rain and crying my eyes out terrified at the fork lightning overhead whilst getting tonked 4-1 or 4-0 away at Shrewsbury Town as a nipper. I remember getting all excited about the chance to see my team on telly for the first time in my life against Birmingham City if I remember right (on MOTD i think it was) staying up past my bed time to watch the highlights of a match I'd just got home from. Back in those days I'd have been overjoyed about having a pre season friendly against some second rate division one club. And people are seriously turning their noses up at seeing Hull City competing in Europe?! Smacks of premier league fan mentality. This is unprecedented for the club and will probably be the biggest high it experiences in our lifetimes. I bet if we draw and beat Inter Milan in the knockouts the naysayers will all be there and loving every minute of it saying how great it is and all that, probably rubbing it into Leicester fans that were going away to San Siro whilst they're busy in an illustrious away fixture at Turf Moor.
We were out sold by a League 1 side for only our second ever fa cup semi final in our history, you seriously reckon people will follow City abroad in massive numbers, unless we get someone big or fairly near the UK?
Who gives a **** about the numbers? Those of us can afford to go, will go, and I know we'll all have a cracking good time doing it. No one will turn their noses up at those who can't make it. What's the problem?
in repy to Golaccio; If City are in Deepest Siberia they will be City fans there in numbers, You also include two 'unless' excuses. As we have never been in Europe before how do you know people will not travel ? I included two meaningless trips where City took big numbers, China and Portugal. What do you base your opinions on ? As for the FA Cup Semi Final, it was Sheffield Uniteds Cup Final, not ours, and if you can locate any spare tickets for the real FA Cup Final in three weeks time could you let me know? We could shift 50,000 for that one.
One of the Dublin clubs would suit me just great, or Sligo Rovers of course! Europe, the best thing since sliced bread. Cheers Leeds Met like you said go for it
Would suit a lot of us - £10 flights from Manchester to Dublin. Watch City and a night out in Temple Bar area; that'd be a memory that many City fans would never forget... or remember?
Numbers matters immensely. As i said before- if it's fairly close the UK or big, fair enough it's worth it. But if it's Eastern Europe, the turn out for games will be as poor as the fa cup games prior to the semi final. Hopefully, it doesn't distract us from what actually matters- domestic affairs.
This ^^^^^^^ We'll be in Europe. Everton will have nothing to play for after Man City beat 'em up. One higher league place for us if we beat The Toffees... for a higher league position to pay salary for a decent squad player. The Arse may be easier to roll in the cup final if they know they're already in the Champs League. Their players will want to stay uninjured for the world cup. All intriguing stuff.
