Ranieri had Steve Walsh at Chelsea so there was a good working relationship before Ranieri came here

Walsh found Didier Drogba for Chelsea

He didn't have to do much looking.

32 goals in the season prior to that for Marseille.

:) I could have found Drogba ..remember seeing him destroy Newcastle and Liverpool in the Europey for Marseille ... no real gamble on that one .. arguably the best centre forward in Europe (with the obvious exception of Emile Heskey) even then...

I remember seeing a player destroy the opposition around the same price - was called Adraiy Shevchenko and he showed that big money and even bigger reputation did not equal success.

..major difference.. Shevchenko was in the twilight of his career when he came to the Prem ..Drogba just getting into his pomp .

Shevchenko failed to settle because he couldn't speak the language and was in and out of the side.

    No such problem for Drogba.

Thats my point - good scouting for Drogba, bad for Shevchenko.
