Despite their thumping in Germany to be in a position to concede 200 goals in the champions league says so much more than smaller clubs who fail to qualify on a regular enough basis to achieve such a record however bad.
Well yeah, but it's pointless being so proud of qualifying for a competition so many times when you've got a **** record in it. To not win it once and only reach 1 final is appalling really. Not sure how many semis.
I hear you fella but it's far from pointless, looking at the greater picture and the vast wealth that these games generate is worth the experience alone as it gives them better means to keep ahead of their domestic rivals. But I agree I can't see Arsenal in the foreseeable future ever winning it outright but being in it and the fans hopes that they can is what makes being a fan.
So money is more important than success? **** that, all the problems with modern football imo, and is precisely where Arsenal are going wrong. They are in a VERY strong position financially, but if they don't get their next managerial appointment right...
Of course we all crave success and it's become greater since the formation of the premier league. But we can't always be successful and I remember the days if you won an occasional trophy and enjoyed watching your team fans took this in their stride. But I agree with you re Arsenal's recent lack of success will be a growing concern for the Arsenal board and fans. Wenger seems to have lost his once winning mentality and how long he will survive that is anybody's guess.
Wise ol dog Piskie....he knew what was coming unlike Flanders who dived in head first last night and got splattered allover the board. Hope he's OK this morning.
As was last year's Arsenal implosion watch mate. I said in the OP .that Arsenal would get a mauling in Europe.
