I know Squillaci is held up as an example of a bad purchase on generous wages. But when we signed him, he actually looked like he was going to be a good defender. He had just played with Sevilla in the Champions league and was a regular for France. I think even Wenger was probably totally dismayed at what a Turkey he turned out to be in the Premier League.
