I have to say, I'm pretty ****ed off with Arsenal for selling him to Utd. I know that RVP started all of this by saying that he wouldn't sign a new contract, and I was advocating that we should have kept him anyway. Reports on the BBC today are saying that RVP 'was encouraged by the new signings to the point where he was open to the idea of staying with or without a contract' So, it looks like we could have kept him. But then knowing he could have walked on a free next summer, he'd pretty much burnt his bridges. But still, to sell him to Utd sits really uneasily with me. A sorry affair all round. Let's just hope we reinvest that money into the squad.
I think he was being slightly sarcastic, he missed out a then, but judging by your reaction you'd think it was the end of the bloody world. We know have the striking options Giroud/Podolski/Bendtner(albeit likely to be sold)/Chamakh, which is an improvement on RVP/Chamakh, simply due to the fact that we now have one more body in front of the Morrocan Menace. I think we're in a much better position, considering RVP was a crock, and I expect us to replace Bendtner with someone better than Chamakh, a 5-8 million signing. Of course no-one is happy about RVP leaving us for Manure, but seriously, just chill out and take a few breaths, you're coming across as a petulant 5 year old that won't accept other peoples reasonable arguments because he's having a hissy fit. We've landed a good deal with this transfer, and to be honest I really can't see the angle that Sir.Rednose is taking with this deal, he's basically committing 70 million pounds on a permacrock one season wonder 30 year old, in a position they don't really need. I struggle to understand where RVP will fit into the side, and considering their poor financial position, it seems like quite a bad deal for them. If anything I'm slightly pleased about the fact that they aren't going to strengthen in more important areas.
There's nothing wrong with trying to put a positive spin on things, especially when it's something entirely out of your control. I'd rather Van Persie stayed but what can you do?
I tried to write this in a separate post but did not really work - but here is my view on it. Football is a team sport - which means the more dynamic the team is the better it is. The team should be able to change/adapt to different situations. To do this - you need a variety of good players. Van Persie did a fantastic job for us and would have done a great job this year. However, the new players we brought in will enable us to play with a different dimension. Especially with a new creative spark up front (AM - Cazorla)and the uprising of Oxo and return of Wilshere. We will play differently from last year (I guess song will not do these long balls over the defense as much). Still optimistic for next season!
Hardly any of your crying is devoted to him going to Man United. You only seem to fall back on that when someone points out how silly you're being with the whole "WE SOLD VAN PERSIE WHYYYYYYY WE SUCK!!!!1one" crap. He wanted to leave, we had to let him leave. **** happens. Why you started crying about it now, god knows ... we've known he's leaving for ages. Is it going to cripple us? F*ck no. We have two good quality strikers brought in who play in his position. We. Are. Going. To. Be. Fine. Crybaby.
Fergie and RVP had Wenger by the balls: AW is faced with 2 choices - 1) Keep RVP, who has already stated he is not sigining a new contract and therefore doesnt want to be there, and would therefore be a toxic presence in the dressing room. 2) Sell him. option 1 is a no goer Option 2 had only one solution - sell to the only team willing to meet close to the asking price. The fact that it was man utd must have made it hard, but AW's hands were tied. He had to cash in.
