Last year we finished top four so at the moment just about. Arsenal should have higher ambitions tjough. Your board are taking the micky out of the fans imo.

better to have high ambitions and fail trying. To dare is to do and all that!

I was out there a couple of months ago - fascinating place and needed more than 2 weeks to take it all in.

Must have bought 50 umbrellas while I was there - kept forgetting the buggers in the noodle bars and on the metro/JR.

Roll on next Summer and visit #2

I don't see why people get so wound up by Savage, obviously he comes out with some foolish comments and has won very little in the game but at least he is not afraid to say what he thinks.
Id much prefer to have a pundit that can actually come up with an opinion of his own even if I don't agree with him rather then have a bunch of brown nosing twats like the Sky sports pundits who just use cliches and agree with each other all day.

Most British commentators play cliche bingo, just trot them out, one after the next, as if getting to a certain number--and mixing in a generous quota of master-of-the-obvious points like "it's not over yet!" and "they really want to score here!" means they've done their job. It's apallingly bad. Most US sports commentators are crap, but a fair number analyze what's going on and can teach you something about what you're seeing (in sports other than football).

Just listened to Andy Durham as I drove home. He was slagging Savage off for suggesting Arsenal aren't a big club and refuses to give him any more air time on his show.

    Surreal :p

I think Savage is right that over the past few years you've become a smaller club. He's talking nonsense about you having no chance at finishing top 4 though, he's just another wum pundit like the ones you get on Talksport. He doesn't have anything interesting to say so has to get his attention by saying something controversial.

I don't know why anyone even cares whether your team's a "big club" or not. It all tends to be based around fan base and history and quite frankly I'd happily swap all the FA Cups we won before my time to witness us win this season and even if we didn't sell out our allocation. My point being that I'd rather see my side be successful now than be a big club because of stuff we won ages ago.

Arsenal have not a become a smaller club simply because we have gone 7 years without a trophy. That is nonsense. In that time, whilst we've not won anything, we've moved to a 60,000 stadium and increased our worldwide fan base significantly and we have a long and proud heritage that will always mean that Arsenal are a big club.

Spurs haven't won the league for 51 years, and they haven't won the FA cup for 21 years. Using the logic of the longer you go without winning, the smaller the club becomes, Spurs would be considered to be smaller than Blackburn and Portsmouth - and I 'm sure that's something that you would contest ?

Ermm, that doesn't follow. I never suggested that you have to have won a competition more recently than another club to be considered bigger. Nevermind, you clearly have a chip on your shoulder to misinterpret what I said so badly.

Fans have been staying away from matches, you've been forced to sell your best players and you're not competing as well in competitions. I'm not saying it's been a drastic decline like Savage but I agree with him that the clubs stature has taken a knock.

There is a thing called the recession and yet we still fill our stadium. Not competing <doh> ok we'll see. Forced to sell players, RvP made a dick move as well as Song.

Piskie as much as I hate the stupid prat, with his silly sing song, high pitched voice, I fear he might be right with some of his statements. We are a feeder club. What is the definition of a feeder club? A club that buys players trains them to a high degree of skill and sells them on for a profit, ring any bells?

Fans have not been staying away from matches. Emirates is practically full to capacity for every home game. RVP forced his move as did Song. The same with Nasri and Fabregas. If players don't want to play for Arsenal, **** em. But that does not mean that we're a smaller club because of it.
