This shows how football in general has lost touch with the common fan. A sport that was made for the working classes, has become a plaything for the mega rich to gain profit or mess around with. Not that this hasn't happened in the past, but at least the club retained it's soul. But the direction in which our club (and mostly all the others) have gone, has made the experience of supporting them alien. Well PL clubs mainly. How can we seriously pretend everything is normal when players demand pay rises from £150k a week to around £300k and more, when people born and bred in London struggle to find a property to rent, let alone buy, can only dream of taking their sons or daughters to a game. We live in crazy times. Normality can only be achieved by supporting lower tier clubs, but those aren't our clubs, Arsenal is. in the meantime, we are reduced to mere objective metrics...
This not just a malaise/development unique to soccer or sport. Rugby is becoming very elitist and the last time I looked, Glastonbury had sold its soul.

Speaking about the wages offered to teenage players, Ian Wright said “You cannot expect a seventeen year old to act normally with that around him.” “You’ve got to take that away from them so they can see the goal is winning things and legacy.”
