Rashica may stay according to reports, he wants the Galatasary move, despite PL and Bundesliga interest
As someone who can hit new lows of online incompetence, Rick, I take that as a challenge. Quadruplicate post on its way!
I think wherever Sainz ends up playing, we still lack sufficient quality in attacking midfield roles for a side aiming for promotion. Our first choice AM trio will be made up of Sainz, Hernandez, Placheta, Tzolis, Rashica (maybe), Rowe, with Barnes and Sargent possibly involved too. In an ideal world, the trio are all players who can make a big impact in the Championship and have the potential to play a role in the Premier League. Sainz and Sargent may fit that description, Rashica should (if he's interested?), but as it stands we're relying on Tzolis or Rowe having breakout seasons to introduce any kind of competition to those roles, especially if Sargent ends up being used further forwards.
Our dilemma is the lack of funds available to attract players with PL potential, so we are recruiting players who have PL or similar experience. At Burnley under Kompany, Barnes was successfully converted into a second striker/CAM role to use his experience to lay off balls or shoot himself. That should be an improvement over last season's experiments with Sara, Núñez or Gibbs in that role and it should help a young Sargent or Idah up front as well as adding some steel to our attack. That leaves the wide AM places to Sainz, Hernandez, Placheta, Tzolis, Rowe, Springett and possibly Mumba (I don't see Rashica returning). Given that Wagner likes inverted wingers cutting in to allow FBs to overlap, that should be enough numerically as Idah can also play that role. We were denied Placheta, Mumba, Springett and Rowe last season through loan or injury so decisions will have to be made before September about who stays and who goes out on loan and whether we need another player coming in, especially as DM seems to be a greater need.
Our latest signing: "Norwich City have completed a deal to sign young midfielder Adian Manning after his departure from Watford. The 19-year-old features in the Canaries’ matchday squad for their pre-season friendly against Barnet this evening, taking up a place on David Wagner’s bench for the fixture. He spent time on trial with Norwich at the back end of last season, featuring in a match for the under-21s against Southampton at Carrow Road. Manning has been with the Hornets for the entirety of his career until now, progressing through their academy before becoming a part of their under-21 group. He’s made four FA Youth Cup appearances for Watford, scoring once, and played twice for the Norfolk club last season."
Out of the squad mentioned above with 29 players, how many class as U21 + conditions so they don't count in the squad numbers?
Clubs in the Championship shall be permitted to name up to a maximum of 25 Players, of which a minimum of 8 must be a Home Grown Player. Under 21 players (other than those who are on loan at the Club) do not need to be named on the Squad List to be eligible to participate in a League Match.
Thanks for that, Suffolk - I thought only Home Grown Players applied. Under 21s on 1 January 2022: Reyes, Gibbs, Rowe, Springett, Tomkinson, Tzolis (6 out of 27⁰ current squad places) GK: Gunn, Krul, Reyes RB: Stacey, Aarons, Mumba CB: Gibson, Hanley, Omobamidele, Duffy, Tomkinson LB: Giannoulis, McCallum CM: Sara, McLean Nunez Sorensen Wide players: Sainz, Placheta, Hernandez, Tzolis, Rashica, Rowe, Springett Sargent, Barnes, Idah
From the Pinkun: “Unfortunately it is a serious one,” said Wagner. “in the second session yesterday (Friday) he conceded a serious ligament injury in his ankle. He will be out until October. The first serious injury of his career. It is a blow for all of us. Especially for him. He was very sad and we support him as good as we can. He really impressed in the first two days of training. Now we have to take it on the chin, work with it, and make sure we can support him to come back as strong as he can. We will do this. Even if it is anything but nice. (Does he need surgery?) This is not 100pc decided. But it looks not and this would not change the timeframe. He will be back in October."
Pink Un are reporting Ed Wooten (GK Coach) is leaving to join Farke at Leeds. Paul Clements to replace him
Mavididi looks to be linked with Leicester and Lille, I think we can count ourselves out of that race
New rumour that Farke is supposedly targeting Gunn for £7m. We’d be crazy to sell him to a division rival for that little
This is a story put out by Leeds blogs and amplified by national blogs like FLW. We paid £5m for Gunn in 2021 and he is under contract until Jun 30, 2025, so yes, he's hardly likely to leave for Leeds for £7m.
