I'll answer my own question courtesy of google. AM, 24 in a few days. Was at Villa, hence the link I assume, until released in 2020. DS obviously knows him, but he was released? Not an exciting resume. But obviously better than boy wonder.
https://www.skysports.com/football/...t-affected-by-tags-to-man-citys-jack-grealish Good read on him here. Creative 10 who draws plenty of fouls.
He's 23, height 1.73m and an AM who can also play CM: https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/callum-ohare/profil/spieler/371262
Interesting transfer rumour, apparently Norwich are keepinjg tabs on a South American striker Giovane who is currently on loan at Brazilian club Corinthians. 18 years old, attached to Capivariano. Also artracting interest from europe - an unname french ligue 1 club. 6ft tall, can play down the right as well as in the middle.
O’Hare from Coventry £5m being touted. This will leave us out of the running. Cantwell on subs bench for Bournemouth again. What a disaster: can’t even get in starting 11 in Championship.
We are now being linked with Villa Striker Kenian Davis, who is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest.
‘WOULD BE EXCELLENT’: WEST HAM AND LEICESTER URGED TO SIGN £3.5M CAPTAIN Surely some mistake? They're both (established) PL sides??? https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2022/04/...ham-and-leicester-urged-to-sign-3-5m-captain/
Norwich have taken up contract options on Pukki, Cantwell, and Matthew Dennis. Gives all of them an extra year on their deals, through to the end of next season.
As DH says we have to extend his contract to be able to sell him, otherwise we lose him on a free. Same may be true of Pukki, realistically this will be our last opportunity to sell him for any value, the way our team is run we have to consider whether it is better to cash in and gamble on another striker firing us back to the PL or gamble on Pukki continuing to bang in goals in the Champ to get us promoted and then leave on a free
In a summer where perhaps Aarons is our only asset capable of raising £10m+ (not saying he'd necessarily go for that, I just don't think anyone pays more for anybody else in the squad), it'll certainly be interesting if a decent offer comes in for Pukki. £8m for Pukki might allow us to bring in Keinan Davies (for example) for less that that, resulting in a profit, lower wage bill, and a younger player with resale value beyond next summer, whilst still maintaining a potent championship strike force, potentially retooled to suit Smith's plans (if such exist...) But equally, do you let the nearest thing we'll get to a guaranteed 25 goal striker leave, in a season where promotion is a must? Massive gamble to take.
I cannot see any club being prepared to pay money for Cantwell and match his wages as well. I think it one last chance for him here and if he fails he will join the long list of free transfers looking for new Clubs. Pukki is likely to score well again in the Championship so I cannot see the sense in selling him although with all the loanees coming back there won't be a lot of room for incomings.
If the 50k /week salary has any truth to it, I'll not be surprised to see Pukki sold when a sensible offer comes through. In the whole scheme of things, it would be a massive gamble losing his goals and hoping Idah or a newcomer can replace him though.
Cantwell supposedly had interest from overseas in January, so perhaps that remains. At least there's likely a relegation wage clause that drops him down to a more affordable wage for someone to take on. His value to us if he can get his head right is undoubtedly more than we'd sell him for though. That doesn't feel likely however. In terms of other loanees returning, I don't think there are many. McCallum and Mumba probably come back and fight for a place in the squad. Onel Hernandez and Hugill are on the books, but I suspect one or both leave. Adshead, Josh Martin both go out on loan next season. Sinani, Soto, Famewo, Bushiri all have agreements in their loan deals to leave this summer, over which Norwich have no control and all players are doing well enough that those options will likely be taken up. Drmic is out of contract this summer.
Thanks DH, helpful update. There is an irony here that none of our players this season have really shone so much that I have thought we will “sadly” have to see them go. Even Aarons has essentially lost his place lately. There is a reasonable prospect we lose no-one (or just Hanley…) to the Premier League. That could be taken as a negative view of our squad and season, and it probably is, it underlines the big gulf we need to surmount as a balance the books club. But it also means we will have a strong Championship squad, and we still have exciting young players coming through who are getting proper game time.
Why would we effectively swap a player who has scored 75 league goals for us over 4 seasons and who shows few signs of his performances trailing off for someone totally unproven at our club, even if there's a few quid left over? It sounds more like suicide than a massive gamble to me.
