You can't sat that sort of thing on here Robbie. The party line is that Thorup was an unmitigated disaster and the current chaos at Carrow Road is the new way to success.
I dispute some of that Robbie. Doyle got worse as the season progresses in my eyes. Dobbin was not here long enough and played very well from his first game. Mahovo was in the youth squad under their coach until his breakthrough ( given a start by JHT I agree,) but not trained much because of injury after a few games. Crnac improved as he got more used to the speed and physicality of the division. Forsyth hardly played.
I can't remember anyone on here saying that Thorup should go and nobody is saying that "Thorup was an unmitigated disaster", but the season did deteriorate badly in his final 10 games to end up as a failure overall, IMO. We have a squad capable of far more than a disappointing 13th place finish with a goal difference of +1. Without the 4 points earned in the final 2 games, we'd have finished below Portsmouth in 16th place. For me that failure was down to tactics that didn't achieve a balance between attack and defence, which was especially evident in the Portsmouth and Millwall games.
Norwich have announced their retained list as well as those who will be departing the club. Interesting to note that they make it clear that discussions are ongoing for Dobbin to return on loan and that he doesn’t simply leave the club at the end of his loan deal. https://www.canaries.co.uk/content/club-confirm-full-released-and-retained-list
We are also in negotiations with AV to secure the return of Dobbin. Must confess he doesn’t fill me with enthusiasm. Only scored 8 goals with 4 different clubs on loan.
I'm the opposite. I thought he slotted in really well in Sainz's absence. Always seemed positive and one of the players keen to move the ball forward at pace. Some quality finishes too. I'd be really pleased to have him back if like lots of people assume, we'll lose Sainz at some point soon. Also really please to lock in Jacob Wright!
Totally agree. Dobbins was always positive and made things happen. And so glad we have signed Wright.
JHT has gone and a few weeks later it is rumoured that QPR are interested in acquiring his services. The management merry-go-round.
He added some much needed pace to our front line which seemed to be sorely missing in our other forwards. Sainz is slower than I thought he was going to be when we signed him. Hernandez is the only one with any real pace and he’s left now
The 1 goal in 4 years at home or whatever stat wasn't great from an attack minded player. Nice guy though & I hope he gets his coaching badges , very positive genuine person
The PinkUn believe that we will look to sign 2 goalkeepers this season with the aim of moving Long out of the club, but realistically who takes him? Long part of City keeper shuffle this summer https://www.pinkun.com/sport/opinio...gs-norwich-city-progress-report-card-2024-25/
Fully agree that Long has to go but disagree with the rest. Give Reyes his chance and bring Tim Krul back as back up along with Barden.
